I've been called weaboo around here because of the way I sometimes talk and because of some of my interests.
I also had no clue what it meant, so I looked it up. When I found out I took it as a hint that some people just don't like me. I am not one to start arguments online because I think it's quite silly, so I just let them call me whatever they want.
I joined these forums to have a place where I can express my thoughts and feelings about some of my favourite interests. These interests are shared by very few of the friends I usually hang out with so it's good to have such a place.
In fact almost everyone that know me would call me quite an ordinary person..
I'm probably gonna get flamed for my next sentence - but whatever
IMHO, the person who calls another a baka is the honto baka! lol
Without the darkness....how would we recognize the light?
@blueangel 0661 - It's just an observation I made. I don't see why you had to point out white girl, though. The most weeeeeeaboo friend I have is black. ._.
So if I'm eating instant noodles with chopsticks, am I a weeeeeeaboo?
I feel like it's weird to have a hate topic on obessed anime/jap fans (especially on an ANIME FORUM, derp). ~_~ Usually the weeeeeeeeaboos are defenseless young teens whom have nothing better to do. Leave them alone!
....Only bother them if it's a 40 year old man wearning sasuke clothing, blasting Hatsune Miku and eating a boxful of pocky. Then you may beat him to pulp and tell him to get a proper hobby.. -_-
I eat ramen out of a ramen bowl with chopsticks. My mom bought me a bunch one day so there's really no reason not to use them. But some of these wanna be japanese people are creepy as heck. Unless you're at an anime convention act like a normal human being x.x
Actually anime fans in general are creepy. I've worked at a large anime con and some things have made me lose faith in the anime world over the years.

Why are some people correlating Autism and Weeabooism in this thread? Many Weeaboos are autistic spectrum, but by far the worst offenders are "geeks" that are perfectly socially capable but for some reason have decided to affix themselves to anime "culture" to a ridiculousness degree. The best examples of this phenomenon are brooding emo guy with a Sauske haircut who'll only contribute to a conversation if it's about Bleach, Naruto or [whatever the kids are into nowadays] and Kawaii Neko Desu Girl who talks at 100 miles an hour about Lucky Star, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and [whatever the kids are into nowadays].

I hate weaboos.
For me, its one thing to eat ramen with chopsticks on occasion and another to INSIST upon eating ramen with chopsticks. And we are not even talking about authentic ramen soup; its the crappy kind that comes in little packets for 25 cents at the local food mart (in fact, this is extent of most people's experience with ramen, despite the rabid fandom that some people express for it).
Eating instant ramen with chopsticks doesn't necessarily make you a weeeaboo. You go into that territory when you go out of your way to obtain chopsticks in order to eat it or refusing to eat any other way ("because that's how the Japanese eat it")
Well, if you have seen the rest of the thread, older anime fans will usually distinguish between hyper preteen anime fans who don't know any better and those crazy, obsessed teens (and older people) who honestly should. As we all know, the actions of a crazy fringe group can, unfortunately, define the rest of the group (since they get the most attention), so its no wonder weeeaboos are hated more than anything else.
It's one thing to be dedicated to something (watching anime, going to cons, occasional cosplay, etc) but its another to become so wrapped up in something that your very actions speak of insanity and cultural ignorance.
Japan stops looking like this:
And ends up looking like this:
This is my war face.
This is what happens to trolls who mess with me.
@wolfgirl90 - Are you saying you've never been the "annoying" teenager that obesseses over little things? Are you saying you've never gone through phases of overwhelming love for hobbies or something? It's a normal part of being a young teenager.
Like I said. Leave the younger ones alone. Shut up and ignore them if you have you. The only time it's weird is when it's somebody who's still acting like this and they're adults.
Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

So... the Japanese equivalent to this "weaboo" would be some kind of teenage nationalistic right-wing nut who also has an unhealthy obsession with anime? Sounds like your average 2channel-er.

Why?
Why waste so much time and energy on something like that, when you just can ignore it if you don't like it?
There are so much hatred going on in this thread.
I don't hate you.
Keep having those interest that you have and if someone becomes annoyed at you, just pretend that you are in an bubble and all of their words are just "jumping" back at them - not reaching you.
There is no wonder that people, like me for an instance, don't dare to be brutal honest and tell people out in the daily life that we actually have anime as an interest. Im not a anime fan (if I now have understood the term correctly) but I enjoy anime a great deal. But it's almost like you can't even be able to like anime as an "normal" fan without people look at you and stamp you as an "something". Threads like these doesn't help.
You can like anime, but you can't like anime "too much" - I still doesn't know where that fine little line should be drawn... To satisfy everyone I guess you can't know to much about an certain anime (even if you love it) because then people will "hate" you.
---------
Guess I have to go back to watching those hospital tv-shows with my friends. They seem to be the only shows that are okey to know a great deal about now. Because my friends keep talking about those different Hottie Dr.McHottie and no one seems to mind. Hahah!

This is precisely what we are tying to tell you. Weaa's are what people "stamp" you IF you were trying to tell a non anime fan you're an anime fan. Even if they do not know the term but the description of that they have of you is now a Weaa. Which is precisely why within the anime community weaa's are horribly disliked because they make the other [and much larger] percent of anime fans look bad. A majority of anime fans do NOT add random honorifics to the end of their words. know more than baka, kawaii, sugoi, ohiyo, konnichiwa, etc. And if they are to only know those words they do not go around saying them constantly. It's like saying I knew spanish and decidió to only parcialmente translate my oraciones.
I mean I'm a straight up anime fan. Seen over 200+ different titles. Invest a lot of time [and sometimes money] into anime. I've reached out and gotten a job at an anime convention as security/ushering for our main events. But yet I don't act like a stupid wannabe japanese and curse my own race all the time. I still act like an american. No need to throw random words around and order chinese food because it closely resembles japanese food... even if they are totally different... You can be an anime fan and still be rather popular. But that's only if you can separate anime from real life. Unfortunately MANY people cannot seem to do that. I did... Was friends with cheerleaders, thespians, rednecks, all across the board different types of people. They knew I liked anime and didn't give a darn because I didn't go all crazy and emo looking on them like the rest do. I keep it in my room [teeheehee]
I also do not do it on forums. Even anime forums because honestly it looks like you're stupid and trying too hard.

It's a hard subject, it really is.
I wish that I someday both will becoming better at english [so I will understand you guys better -_- sorry] and that I someday will be able to telling people about my interest in anime without being ashamed or sweat like crazy while feeling the horror and worrying about if people will look at me differently if they would find out my "dark secret".
But I guess it's almost the same thing with whatever interest you are spending your free time on. If you say that you are a cheerleader people with look at you and think that you are a certain "type" of person, the same if you say that you play football or being interested in politics or... well almost everything/anything. People will always put you in a certain "box" because they think you are in a certain way - because some people that share your interest have that interest a little to much. Shame that it's that way actually, that you can't be open with certain things because of being afraid of getting a certain stamp by someone, because of some others.
Oh well...

It's not really...
Weaa's =/= normal anime fans [me and.. hopefully you]
weaa's = disgrace to japan and anime fans.
And see you're taking your time to learn english. Weaa's normally do not expand past 10 words of the japanese language and claim to know Japanase. 10 words is not a language xD

lol.. yeah I sort of had a hard time on deciding upon the name seeing it had 2 very different meanings! [Ref. username thread]
I had a big interest of Japan before I even started watching anime. I have a few (Norwegian) relatives living in Japan and the culture always fascinated me.
When I was 16 I had big plans of moving to Japan because I was very into karate and martial arts. I wanted to study at a Koryū Dojo (old fashion style) which is only possible in Japan..
Needless to say, it did not happen, but I may still go there to stay for a few months in periods. I just have some career-related things to take care of first.
People may call me whatever they want. In the end I am just being myself..
@SuXrys
Thank you my Swedish friend! /bubble mode on! Yosh!!

Its funny to say that I don't like eating my noodles (of any kind) in chopsticks. I dunno, I guess I can but I want to be in my comfort zone when I'll eat them or anything.
So, "otakus" want to be my friend and until they find out I'm Chinese... eh, well they sort of loose interest. lol
