Digimon Tri opinions

So I just finished watching the first film of Digimon Tri, "Saikai" the 4 episode sequel to the second season. I thought it was alright, much better than some of the recent seasons they've put out. I'd like to hear everyone else's opinions though, has anyone else seen it yet? Did you like it? why or why not?

I saw "Reunion" and loved all four episodes!! The story makes sense, the animation was stellar, and the character interactions (Yes, Tai and Matt butt heads again but what's new?) were on point. I'd definitely recommend this to others, like hardcore Pokemon fans. I enjoyed myself overall and would watch it again. xD

It makes me so upset we have to wait till like March for the rest of it, and I'm also very interested for the explanation of everything. I think it's very interesting as they show how each of them have matured

I haven't seen it yet, but will be eventually. I'm not expecting a masterpiece since Digimon has never been one, but due to nostalgia purposes it might be a fun and good watch.

As a whole I liked it but the animation suffered outside of fights and the character designs left a gap since the Digimon stuck out even more. All in all I enjoyed it but on closer inspection it definitely didn't feel like a film/ova series with all the cut corners. PS: rewatch the OP in the first episode and pay attention to animation.

Is it by Toei? If so, its understandable the animation is garbage since Toei never puts effort in animation. Look at Dragon Ball Super and World Trigger..

I just watched the first 4 eps last night. The only thing I don't understand is who is the digimon controlling the rifts in time. I like the realism with Tai as he finally realizes the damage to his world is real, and people could get seriously hurt. It was nostalgic to see all the original Digi Destined finally re-united, but I think that as they move forward this is going to be a battle for all Digi-Destined not just the Original. And I want to know what is so special about Mei( Meicoomon?) I might be fudging on that name. and I do think that 5 months is a bit of wait since they did not really show us anything new. Except a longer digivolution cut-scene. I really want to enjoy, and I like how the characters are acting like older versions of themselves, but they spent too much time on relational triangles. And Gomamon didn't even Digivolve to Ikakumon. The primary focus was on Agumon and Gabumon, and Matt and Tai. To show their new animation of Omegamon (Omnimon). So I don't know I am not completely sold on my feelings for the series. I agree it is really being watched for Nostalgia sake. I don't know if it has more to keep the casual anime watcher engaged.

I think they'll be releasing a new form of omnimon/omegamon, to show how their partners have matured and have grown stronger etc etc. What're you guys hoping for this series come around March?

i watched 4 episodes, the story is good although i could complain about some scenes
overall, i enjoy it and i'm looking forward to the next upcoming episodes
now back to the digicave :P

One thing I found stupid was why the other six didn't to their Perfect forms when fighting the group of Kuwagamon. They were freaking getting bodied and with Ultimate, they could of beat them easily. At least for the next movie we know that we're going to see both Vikemon and Rosemon, although I would have preferred to see Hououmon and HerculesKabuterimon. Oh yeah, I kind of disliked the new evolution sequences.

Another thing was that even though this movie mostly focuses on the main kids, I didn't like how the 02 kids (hated or not), got thrown into irrelevance land to the point that they were never mentioned. I almost feel like the opening scene and their names on the screen were added last minute.

Either way, this was a really enjoyable watch. The character interaction has evolved, and its a lot better with the kids being older. I really like that Takeru x Hikari scene and that scene when Takeru told Yamato that he still loved him the most. It was really nostalgic. Alphamon vs Omegamon was really cool to watch as well.

Part 2 looks like it's going to be epic. I like how Rosemon and Vikemon were shown in the poster for Ketsui/Determination. It's telling of good things to come.


As a side note: Since the films are broken up into 24-minute episodes, will we see an English adaptation as a full-on TV series? Or is it just a Crunchyroll thing?

Crunchyroll is the only one bringing it to us right now, so I'm not sure it depends if it's popular enough. (Which I think it will be)

Crunchyroll has too many commercials that interrupt the movie. I saw "Reunion" elsewhere, and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. It left me wanting more. *salivating for the second film, Ketsui*

I doubt they'll drag Tri that far, they might continue making more installations of the Digimon Series... but as far as Tri goes, they can only take it so far given the timeline they set at the end of 02

Anything can be dragged out. Just depends on how much/little information they want to pour into each episode.

Goodness that was terrible. Besides the nostalgia feels, Digimon Tri movie one ended up being a complete disaster. It was boring, looked terrible, tried to be more mature but just came off really badly done.


Unless you're a die-hard Digimon fan or looking for nostalgia, don't expect much of anything.

We're just at the beginning still. Give it time, and things might pick up. "Ketsui (Determination)" (coming next year) might be a step up from "Saikai."
