Game Shows?

So, I've tried to think of good topics to make and... I'm drawing a blank. And I just randomly thought, why not just make a topic about something I like and see if anyone enjoys it too.


I am a huge Game Show Nerd. Some of the new ones aren't bad, but I'm mainly for the classic game shows, of the 60's-90's.


I joke that, I was born the day after Double Dare premiered on Nickelodeon (That part isn't a joke) but I joke that my siblings must have been watching it with my mom in the room, I heard it, and was like "THIS IS MY TIME!!!!"


I grew up with Nickelodeon Game Shows, from the popular Super Sloppy/Family/Double Dare, Nick Arcade, and my fav, Legends Of The Hidden Temple, to the easily forgotten Get The Picture, Make The Grade, and What Would You Do?


Eventually I started channel surfing and saw interesting game shows on other channels that I still love (Some first run, some reruns), such as:


Classic Concentration with Alex Trebek



Scrabble



Supermarket Sweep



Hollywood Squares



And (Still my favorite)

The 25,000 Pyramid


Over the years I've come to enjoy lots of other game shows. The popular classics like Match Game, Wheel Of Fortune and Card Sharks,

This game show channel I watch, dug up this game show called Whew! that hasn't been on TV since it went off in 1980, and it's really fun. The theme song was even animated by Hannah Barbara!

I like to go onto YouTube and watch the old, old shows just to see the legends of the past.

It really is interesting to see old legends like that. Sometimes young ones too. I've seen on I've got a secret and/or What's My Line? (The black and white ones) Johnny Carson, Ronald Regan, and others. It's pretty interesting to see.

Yeah! Scrabble was the best! Loved Double Dare and Carman as a kid too though.

How about You Bet Your Life? The series still shows up from time to time on various cable channels.

Yes. I'm not sure it is in my cable package. I'm not that much of a game show enthusiast. Normally. But if I have the desire to watch something old, I can always go to YouTube.

Game Show Network SUCKS these days. - Well, okay that's not completely fair. I'm just an old man (Figuratively) who only wants to watch the classics, and All they show now is Match Game, as far as classics go.


Buzzr is the good game show channel now. They are owned by Fremantle, which owns the library of game shows created by Mark Goodson (And its a big chunk that were, including the 'password's, Match Game, Family Feud, Card Sharks, ect, and also bought out a few other smaller companies that give them the rights to air Supermarket Sweep, Press Your Luck, and others. But last fall they got a show they didn't own that hasn't been on TV since 1980 called Whew!.


It's a great channel. They are free over the air, on the website for free, PlutoTV, ect. And randomly Dish has it too.
