I'm just curious, but is there anybody else on this forum who works with a scanlation group/scanlates on their own?
I do a lot of scanlations, mostly of doujinshi, which I post on my LiveJournal here.

I used to work as a translator for a scanlation group, but I stopped once the manga they gave me became too boring XD
A couple mouths lol. At first they asked me to translate Saiunkoku Monogatari, which wasn't so bad, but then they gave me this more...ecchi manga, which ironically was very boring since it was just filled with onomatopoeia of sexual pleasure but lacking in content lol
Nah, I hear ya. I don't think I could ever do anything in the ecchi genera. At this point in my life, I've just seen pretty much any trope that they'd throw at me in one...translating one would just be very predictable.
I do love Saiunkoku Monogatari, though. It's very rare for a josei manga to get acclaim overseas, unlike seinen.
Never underestimate the power of fan girls XD Saiunkoku was clearly geared more towards women, and since the male characters were indeed drawn very aesthetically appealing, it was quite popular to the female readers. Seinen isn't that popular either, though; shounen, now that's a whole different story XD
