For that don't know, there's a new type of USB connection hitting devices now.
Remember a while back, folks were talking about making a USB connection that can be used either way? To avoid that constant flipping the cord or stick over and over. Well it's here.
Meet the USB Type-C.
It's about the same size as the USB Micro-B, and contains 24 pins using four power/ground pairs, two differential pairs for USB 2.0 data bus (though only one pair is implemented in a Type-C cable), four pairs for high-speed data bus, two "sideband use" pins, and two configuration pins for cable orientation detection, dedicated biphase mark code (BMC) configuration data channel, and VCONN +5 V power for active cables. It carries power currents of 1.5 A and 3.0 A over the 5 V power bus in addition to baseline 900 mA.
As of right now there's only a handful of devices that currently use it or offer it. I myself picked up a Microsoft Lumia 950, which uses the Type-C. Didn't realize what it was until I read the quick start instructions. XD
