Ah, yes, I am back now from a long and much needed break. =3
A conversation about one of my translations, is it?
World is Mine was actually one of the first works I submitted for the site and I must add my own take on this, I wasn't at all pleased with what I had submitted as how I was with many of my early works. Nevertheless, I felt I did the best I could for my level of brain activity at the time! xD
Anyhow, as a matter of fact, I was actually going through some of my old translations late last year as a quick edit idea. I never got around to changing it though. I had already been away from this site for a while and didn't want to break my flow.
My opinion of my translation here is that I still believe I have everything translated right, I just don't have it worded quite the way I intended it to be. I just need to adjust my sentencing is all.
I'll dig up my edited translation this week and I think I'll post it again here before asking the lovely Azure-sama or Ani to change it. That way, people can have a final word on it before it is put up.
I don't mind at all your take on my translation, Nano. I quite like having a second input to point out any mistakes or miswordings I've put out. =3 In fact, I always try to have someone read over my translation after I've written one. They don't know Japanese at all, but at least they can suggest a better way of saying something.
Don't worry about some of the tricky parts you find in Japanese. "Ki ga tsuku" won't be the first expression you'll run into. It's good to see someone learning about the little hidden bits of the language. In fact, you've just learnt about that particular phrase the exact same way I did back when I was a lowly student. ;p
If you would like, I'd like to offer you a site I used (and even use now if I'm struggling with obsolete terms) to reference words off. It is a dictionary, but I believe that it also has an option which lets you look at a word in a sentence. The site is: jisho.org
Even now, I may understand a word, but go to that site just to look at the different ways in which you might word it to find the best way to fit it into a sentence or exchange it with equivalency. I've been studying Japanese for about 8 or so years now and I can tell you that you never stop learning. ^_^
If you feel like discussing any more of my translations with me or even just want to understand why I've worded something a certain way, don't hesitate to let me know.
I also made a note at the end of my translation of World is Mine I remember which I believe was mentioning that I was being a little free with those lyrics and trying to make it flow more naturally. It still ended up a little awkward, but I was new to translations! xD
I any case, please expect a certain reply later on in the week.
