Interesting thread.
I rock a tie while I get my reasearch on. Where my other engineers at?
Alright, so my job doesn't exactly dominate dinner conversations, but I actually do enjoy it and it keeps the wife from complaining about money.
I never thought about that. I figured film students just voluntered in each others productions along with recruiting acting, theater, and music students looking for roles to build up their own resumes with at least something.
But they actually pay people? Geez. As if college loans weren't already huge and film prospects bleak.
Still, that does sound like fun. I enjoyed being the lead in our high school play (and bit parts in the musicals, because my singing sucks).

Oh no no, I don't get paid. Since the title says "even if it doesn't pay" I assumed literally. So yeah no I don't get paid.
I just get asked if I want to part take in a student film, majority of the time I say no but on occasion I will say yes (like I did today; I'm playing a Psychiatrist)
It is purely to build up resume and get experience and let me tell you these film students are very rough to work with. Majority are rude as can be--even IF you're prepared. Some of their scripts are barely understandable.
Yet hey, it's connections and giving me experience.
I work at our local supermarket packing groceries and bringing in the shopping trollies.

I have two jobs.
One: Supervisor at a pizza place. I'm hoping to leave soon though, trying to get them used to not having to rely on me since I've had this job for seven years. Love the coworkers there, but it's not the line of work I desire, which brings me to job two, in my desired field:
Two: CNA (certified nursing assistant) at a nursing home. It's one of those jobs you love and hate. I'm wanting to work in a hospital within the next year though after I get my level 2 certification for acute care. Then I'm hopeful to go back to school for an RN in the next few years.
I work in the cinema doing everything, while being trained to be an AV Guy, seeing as projectionists in the traditional term are pretty much gone. I wants to learn how to make more of dem peas tho!
Nerdy other thing I do is play the card game Magic: The Gathering for the local gaming group, going to the bigger tournaments, wearing their shirts, using there gear etc etc, being a walking advertisement. If I do well the shop does well. Best I've done is won a pre-release in their garms.

The pay is pretty good, considering i have no monthly expenses other than cell phone and insurance. And there is that other payment of traveling. In march, my ship is going underway for little over a month. We'll be stopping in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, and the Philippines. The CO said he's also trying to make arrangements to take us out on a longer tour all the way out to Italy later this year.

May peace bestow this world,
May our hearts unite.
Life may not be smooth as pearl,
But pray for our decisions to be always right.
Life may be hard, it's a big pain in the butt. But hey, who says behind all those pain, can't hide some happiness ?
