So what non-Ghibli anime movies do you like? I just got Patema Inverted, I love Welcome tot he Space Show, and Summer Wars is amazing.
Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

Yes for Summer Wars. Patema Inverted was interesting, but not one of my favorites.
Perfect Blue -- A goody-goody singer with a popular girls' singing group decides to become an actress. This involves an image change which could damn well kill her -- if she doesn't go nuts first.
Your Name -- Boy becomes girl and visa versa. But when the boy figures out it is up to him to defy time and save the girl's life, it gets pretty tense.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Rebellion -- The third movie based on the series, only this time it is a game changing new story with unexpected twists.
Jackie Coogan, Charlie Chaplin, and Charles Reisner as the Bully.
Reisner was a former pro boxer who turned actor, writer, and director. He previously worked for Chaplin behind the camera on The Gold Rush. Reisner would later become known as a comedy director working with The Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, and Abbot and Costello, among others.

I just re-watched Your Name tonight. It still holds even through the second time, though I already know the story.

I watched your name as well, downloaded 4k version of it on my external SSD and enjoyed it fully on a big screen, it was awesome.
