Any Netflix Users Out There?

You may have heard that Netflix will be discontinuing their DVD service in September. Personally, I think this sucks. I have both the DVD service and Netflix Streaming. Streaming has a good selection of foreign films and TV series, as well as anime. Much of it is available nowhere else.

As for the DVD service, it's the only source I know of for classic films from the past. They have silent films, screwball comedies from the 1930's, and my favorite -- film noir from the '40's and 50's. Of course they have more recent classics which I like to re-watch from time to time.

But with the DVD service discontinuing, I may drop the streaming service as well -- if I can find a good replacement. Does anyone know of a streaming service available in the US which has anime, as well as old movie classics, and some more obscure films? I will check out Hulu.

Any other Netflix customers out there? What do you think?

I heard that a lot of people are surprised to hear that. But the DVD service remains the only source I know of to rent DVD's of old classics. Unfortunately, that source is going as of this coming September.

Their supply of anime DVD's has dwindled. I guess people don't return them, or they get damaged. For some good recent anime, you can find several on their streaming service.

I do not use Netflix, as the only streaming site I'm remotely into is Crunchyroll; but only when a new season of an anime I like comes out, like Digimon! As a aside: I gotta' gear up for Jujutsu Kaisen, Season 2!!

Their DVD collection is dwindling. DVD's are either not returned or are damaged. There are several series for which DVD's are missing, but most episodes can also be seen on YouTube.

Oh. I thought the original poster meant that Netflix has their own line/brand of DVD's.

I was bummed, too, because I love old movies and different kinds of shows that aren't always on streaming sites. I found Netflix's streaming didn't have everything I wanted, especially for older or rare movies.

So, I switched to iptv. It's been perfect for me. It costs 15 euros a month, and I get so many channels – over 7,000! There are tons of movies, too, in HD and even in 4K. It's fantastic because I can watch it anywhere, on my TV or phone. It's also super easy to use, and they answer any questions. They give you points for signing up, which you can use later.

I've gone and subscribed to Turner Classic Movies. I can record them and watch whenever I want. It's a great source of film noir, and old classics that Netflix did not have.

As pissed as I am at Netflix, I do still have their streaming service. They have some good anime on there.

I don't believe so. Netflix does have agreements with production and internet companies all over the world.

I do subscribe now to Turner Classic Movies. I used to get it as part of basic cable, but now you have to pay extra. Anyway, I have over a dozen movies already recorded from TCM to be watched.
