I may believe in vampires but that is because of my own free will. i'm a fan of older vampire stories like the ones writen by ann rice. all in all i am a good kid but if you please just let me have my moment let me pretend to be a vampire and when i'm done i swear i'll make a HUGE annoucement.

Well, I don't think it's the most retarded but it's so boring. The story line was so slow, and the second book was crap. I hated Bella as a main character, and honestly? Yeap, but there is no reason not to search for proof, right? I mean, scientists and explorers are looking for beings like the Yeti, loch ness monster, that giant anaconda, the giant squid etc... If they can't find proof in so long, I guess we can safely say that beings like those do not exist.

An absence of evidence means, "It's doubtful, but possible."
My issue with vampires is that there's no good way to explain their origin. With even the ridiculous Loch Ness Monster, you can try to explain it using real animals (or at least real and once real types of animals). But a vampire cannot be explained reasonably; they're undead, immortal, and can convert human into vampires with bites. It screams of magic and fiction, and little else.

The point is that, until you provide evidence that vampires exist and attempt to explain how they can be as described without invoking "magic," "powers," or any similar supernatural concept, it will be doubted, and rightly so.

Basically, if something really happen, if it can really be observed to occur, it is entirely natural, so can't very well be supernatural. Supernatural stuff tends to be impossible to disprove by definition, too, and if you can't conceivably disprove something, it isn't a logical affair. To prove it, you must refute the possible 'disproofs,' for lack of a better term, so, perhaps counter-intuitively, you must be able to disprove to prove, though the evidence must support the proof.

Believe in them? I put more credibility into zombies because a viral takeover of the human nervous system makes *slightly* more sense than blood-sucking superhumans. Not to mention there are more pseudo-realistic zombie novels that are far more intriguing to read and be convinced by than there are sappy teenage romance crap that deviate from the age-old legacy of true vampires.

Well, the popular ideas of vampires is as you say, well seriously, who would believe an undead immortal being exists. I know that the vampires you are aware of, started with the book, Count Dracula who was inspired by "Vlad the Impaler."
I was talking about the story of old folks in my country. They explain things rather imaginatively. Our country's version of a vampire (not the one you are talking about) ain't immortal, in fact, they are just like humans, they live, they're not undead, they don't even turn into bats. They just have a taste for human blood. Well, thats how the story goes anyway. I did say that I do not believe in such stories until I encounter one for real. And in this modern age, these stories are getting overshadowed already.

Well, those bizaare deaths I was talking about, it's also part of the legend of our vampires. Stories passed on from generation to generation.

I, for one, ain't superstitious, I lived in a scientific environment since I was a child. I do know the stories in our folklore (another example would be forest giants we call, "Kapre") but I DO NOT BELIEVE IN THEM. I capitalized them since I think you misunderstood me as well when you put that "edit" thingy.

And just for the record, I know that if I believed that stuff, my fellow engineers will certainly make fun of me.
