I agree on the impressiveness of both makeup and photography. Have you thought of trying to get work as a make-up artist as well? Another job that doesn't pay enough, but if you work both your photography and make-up, perhaps you can do each part-time to make a full-time living?
It's a shame that a photographer (and make-up artist!) of your caliber can't make a career of this job, but I can certainly relate to how difficult it is. I often have to take on odd multimedia or advertising jobs to help pull the bills where my photography leaves me lacking. I suppose the biggest problem is the high overhead involved with photography equipment. I'd be making a decent living if I didn't have tens of thousands going back into gear. It seems like for every $1000 I make I have to spend at least $600 to replace damaged or worn equipment. Sometimes I don't even break even when job requirements exceed current supply of resources!
As for the photos you posted, Chii... I like them all, but the lolipop one is the one I love. The second one is too dimly lit for me, and the last three are too soft for my taste. That's all personal preference, but the lolipop photo is spot on in my eyes.
