Just trying to contribute to the forum a bit and get some good topics of discussion going here, so here it is. What kind of life do you want for yourself? We're all young here, what direction are you taking your life in and what steps are you taking to get the life you want for yourself?

It's funny because my friend literally says that everyday that he wishes he won the lottery so he could get high and watch anime all day. Das it mane.

Work at home dad, so I can be close with my children and there will be no gap between us. It troubles me how kids nowadays rarely talk to their parents.

okay, i'll post seriously.

my ideal life would be one in which i've found a significant other that i love and loves me back, i have a welding certificate and make good money in a shop, own my own home, have a decent vehicle (and a Can-Am for cruising), have one or two children, a dog and a white picket fence. i basically want to live the American dream and lead a simple, routine life with little excitement. i'm a pretty uncomplicated guy and i want to live an uncomplicated life.

I'm studying Computer Science in a University, and this is my last semester. Soon I need to get in contact with a recruiter to be able to join the military and escape from this awful economy. From there I can decide to either stay in the military and climb up the ranks or leave after the contract is done and use the acquired military experience, my degree and my other knowledge/experiences to get a job well enough to sustain myself. I've been physically and mentally preparing for this since I was an early teenager. I'm on my twenties now. Go hard or go home.

This. Though, if anime isn't apart of that successful life I'll feel somewhat incomplete. I probably need both.

I'm a bit further down the line, and I'm pretty happy with where I'm at. I suppose in the future I'd like fewer first world problems.

And then either more time hanging out with friends, traveling/adventuring, and spending time with my wife while she's in a good mood or more kids (realistically there's some mutual exclusivity going on there).

Oh, and I'd like to buy a boat. Or maybe just traveling more to places where it's good to rent a boat (stupid polluted east coast).

Will the military pay for your education if you sign up near or after graduation? Either way that's probably a fine option. But I thought the job market wasn't quite so bad now. Though I do recall hearing something about there being too many CS majors (but alternatively also I've heard there are too few). Are the prospects really bad?

I think the military has aids for students. Though after I'm done now I don't plan on ever going back to school. The problem with finding a job related to Computer Science is that they ask for experience related to that field. It's impossible for me (a bilingual University student with only community service as experience) to find jobs in super markets (and that's as low as it gets when it comes to jobs), how am I supposed to get experience for something more advanced like Computer Science? Employers these day's want professionals with a Master's degree and 30 years of experience. There's no love for newbs

There's a lot of love for newbs out there. A lot of companies, especially start ups and Googlish silicon valley types, really value young people who don't have family attachments and who can put in crazy hours for some stock options (which can actually be a great way to establish yourself and make crazy coin).

I don't know that they want total newbs however. I think you really want a a couple internships under your belt before you graduate. Not only does that give you items for the "experience" section of your resume, but it also should give you some specific skills to add, experiences you can speak to in response to interview questions, and it's a way to get the two to five solid references you're really going to want to have.

Maybe you've run out of time to do that? The military thing should serve much the same purpose so long as you're using your degree, and being a veteran can get you some preferential hiring. And I think having any degree can get you into the officer program, which actually sounds like an interesting carrer in and of itself.

Ooooooh there is so many things that I want!

What I want in life is a stable life, a traditional "Svensson-liv" (Svensson-life = partner, kids, house exc). I want a permanent emplyment at a school where I will only have classes with not too much problems. I want to get married. I don't want to have to go threw a divorce. I want to have atleast four kids (and I "have" to have atleast one girl, don't know why, I just want atleast one). I want healty kids. I want to have grandkids later on. I want to have a lot friends around me. I want a house close to the city but still not in the middle of it, a bit on the side near the countryside with the forest just around the corner. I want a big garden with apple trees. I want to have my house not too far away from a lake. I want two cats. I want to be a darn GREAT homecook and baker. I want to learn cursive writing, learn how to write a nice signature and get my body fit. I want a white kitchen that's not in a "ulta-modern" style. I want to win the lottery, or atleast have a lot of money so I can afford to do things or buy things when I want to without having to think too much about it. I want to travel abroad more and see more places, like China, Italy exc. I want to do a laser-operation and get better eyesight. And so on, and so on, and so on... [...]

Compared to the other wish-lists in here mine perhaps doesn't seem as "exciting" but haha, these are among the things I want! My ideal life.

Hmmm... Good question. To be honest I don't really know if it's a common thing to aspire for or not, since I havn't really given it a thought until now, even if I have heard people who have said "I want a Svensson-life". Even so, I guess when people are using the term "Svensson-life" they mostly use it in a context that makes the Svensson-life sound boring. Like for example "Oh I want to do blablabla I don't want a typical Svensson-life", that they want to do more in life then just buy a house and start a family. Now I guess it's like over at your place, youngsters want to be famous and appear on tv, haha!

My ideal life is working at a good job, living with my girlfriend, still being able to do my volunteer work, have a couple of kids and a pet or two.

I already have everything I want in life... God has truly blessed me.

I have just enough money to get by, and that' okay. A car that runs, and a roof over our heads. Food on the table, running water, and the air we breathe. Especially thankful nobody is sick or in the hospital.

A recent accomplishment for me was getting baptized in water, I was already baptized in the spirit.

I would like to get more involved in church activities once my daughter gets older.

I have my ups and downs, we all do, but I just choose to not let them drag me down. I don't entertain negative thoughts, anytime I have a troublesome thought or worry, I speak against it.
