God, this anime has fully consumed me. I have watched it a few times over and have the urge to watch it once again. I mean, it literally is set in perfect era of life, who wouldn't want nerve gear?

I think that's what my fascination with the anime comes down to; the mystical worlds you can explore. Don't get me wrong, video games are great and all, but wouldn't it be great to be fully immersed into a game until the point that you can walk around, feel objects and all of that?

Eventually the technology will kickstart and money will be drained into it, I just hope to god it happens in the next 2 decades otherwise I will probably lose my mind. I'd have no issue entering the world for years because life outside of anime is so bleak and so, unentertaining.

Sure, you can climb a water tower, but it just isn't the same as slaying a beast twice your size with some sort of weapon you've chosen to use. Me personally, I would duel wield swords but that's just me.

What's your opinion of the anime and what's your opinion of the potentially nerve gear in a few decades?

I agree. The outside world is not of interest to me and the graphics are terrible. I think you'll have a place here. Oh and one more thing; I'd be careful with that Nerve Gear... I've had some problems with it in the past...

Personally, I could only take VR headset games in small doses. Nerve gear? No way.

Why would you want to watch dubbed? and your in luck because I've heard rumours floating around about a VR prototype that is being worked on currently, they are adding alot of security features and stuff so SAO doesn't happen. Not sure if they are accurate or not though. Also I agree the outside world scares me *shivers

For me it realy depends on the dub. IF a dub is done well then I prefer to watch it dubbed because its easier for me to get absorbed. However the dubs often dont match the audio quality of the subs. So it realy just depends.

We already have monitors that have more pixels than the eye can ever see - so in theory you could make a VR world more realistic than what we can see.

Seems I'm the odd one out on this one, but I didn't like SAO. It seems like for both seasons that they start out really great, then they just decline from there. When SAO first started I thought it was going to be a great show. The plot was really good (stuck in VR, if killed you actually die, and having to clear 100 levels to escape.) The action was great and it made it really interesting. During the second half of the season it just switched into a totally different show. It turned into a romance and the original plot got pushed aside.

During season two the beginning was great. Having to track down whoever was killing people in the game, and he actually had to fear for his life. Once again the action was great, the idea was great. But, during the second half it switched, and turned into a story about a girl who had an incurable disease. The second half spent more time talking and trying to make you feel sad. It turned into a real bummer for me. That's just my opinion, I know it's very popular, I just wished it went a different route.

I'm still on season one. It's a pretty idyllic idea, virtual reality. I'd definitely play!

I 100% agree with this. I lost my interest once they switched to the fairy style game. The plot went from fighting VR monsters for dear life, to saving the damsel in distress. Yeah... no thanks.

I agree with this. SAO was great until the second half of season 1. I didn't even bother with season two because of that.

Is Season 2 any good?

The same thing happens in season 2. I liked the first half, but the second was too boring for me.
