Default [Tips - Internet Explorer] Block annoying ads on websites

I hear a lot of people say "Firefox is better, because it has AdBlock Plus", but sadly a lot of people don't know that Internet Explorer 9 and all the successive versions have such a feature too and right out of the box. Microsoft calls it "Tracking protection", which with the help of predefined lists blocks certain scripts and elements on the website you are visiting from running.

Since tracking protection runs inside IE at all times, it depends on the lists whether the browser blocks anything and how much. Microsoft has collected the most well-known lists on this website, but you can use them from a different source or even your own. Once you are on the website, I've linked you to, just click on the Add button of the chosen list, confirm the selection and you are ready to go.

Before, I've mentioned somewhere that you can create your own lists. This can be done by going to the Add-on manager, which is hidden behind the gear in the top-right corner. Once you are there, select the personal list and hit Settings. The new window is what you are looking for. Once you are done, don't forget to enable it, because this list is disabled by default.

The same window is used to remove or simply disable specific lists as well.

Does it work exactly the same for IE10?

Yes, it does. You can use the same lists on all IE versions supporting Tracking protection too.

To be fair that's not the only reason to pick FF over IE. From what I've gathered. IE10 doesn't make use of memory as well as FF. Though I would recommend FF18 over 19. 19 kind of regressed a bit. IE10 might be a bit faster but does so at the cost of memory.

I don't see the problem. Just use what you prefer. It's like arguing over which color is better.

I use Firefox because it runs on both my FreeBSD and Windows systems. That's it. I guess I could also use Chrome, but I don't like Google very much.

By the way, @GameGeeks , Firefox features FreeBSD memory technology, jemalloc

I don't know about the claims in performance between IE and Firefox ... I can't imagine they're noticeably different?

Nice to read this information, it's fact everyone think like that only as Mozilla firefox is a good and best browser in all other browsers. I am also using that one only, by seeing this information i have changed my opinion, i want to try IE 9 once.
