Exploring Tor

For those of you who don't know what Tor is, Its a browser that allows you to access web content that is not available on normal browsers and is not cataloged by normal search engines. You can learn more about it here:

Anyhow I was wondering If anyone would like to explore Tor with me or already has and found something interesting and would like to share? Could be fun.

There's other things on there too. though I will admit there's probably a lot of that to, though I don't really visit those places. what I have found on there that interests me so far is a lot of the hidden wikis, the funny really badly put together occult sites, the conspiracy sites, and the just obscure and weird sites. So there are other things a lot more then what I listed I a sure you and its really not as bad as the reputation its given. it can actually be pretty fun ^.^ or at least I have had fun with the exploring I have done so far.

If you are into hacking there are a lot of hacking websites. If you want a password hash cracked there are some pretty good sites for that. Other then that silk road is probably the most notable site.

There's the pirate bay if your into that, duckduckgo has an onion url, and that's about it the rest is a lot of porn, CP, hacking, and drugs, I got board of it because there were no decent sites on there. I did go to the pirate bay for a little bit because there were no ads on the onion version. I also setup a server on the onion for testing instead of a normal domain and got board of that to. It's cool for the first month or two but there isn't much decent stuff on there.

DO NOT EVER use Tor. Its ONLY purpose is to support EXTREMELY VILE criminal activity. I have been there before, specifically on a site called Hidden Wiki (I believe it was called), which is a Tor site that is a large list of links to other Tor sites. The list is arranged in Wiki format. They ALL are sites who's sole purpose is to provide places for criminals to engage in their crimes. Here are some of the crimes that go on on some of those linked sites.
Selling a swatting service (you send them money, and they'll "swat" whoever you want)
Selling illegal recreational drugs (and not just marijuana; think heroin, LSD, PCP, etc)
Hit men / assassins for hire (no, I'm not joking about that)
Freely distributed hard core child porn (no, I'm not joking about that either)


After seeing that there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOOD OR LEGAL that Tor had to offer, I deleted my copy of the Tor Browser software, and then used the software called Eraser to do a 3-pass random-data-writing erasure of all the free space on the hard-drive, to make sure that no trace of the software was left. After that, I NEVER EVER EVER used Tor again.

This is kind of an over reaction. Many people use TOR just to be anonymous, and some even record themselves using TOR on youtube to explore it. No need to overreact haha.

Don't EVER use that. As I said, Tor is like the most awful crime ridden neighborhood of the internet. And the Hidden Wiki is like an address book with addresses for every drug shop, and smuggled goods shop, in this already very bad neighborhood. A number of the sites linked to from the Hidden Wiki, would make you a criminal just by going to the linked site! Seriously, STAY AWAY from that crap!

Yep. Every crime imaginable. I even saw a "swatting" service there, and have also heard that even hitmen advertize their assassination services there (though I never saw such myself). Seriously, DON'T GO THERE. There's NOTHING good about it. I'm surprised that the government hasn't yet mandated that all ISPs block the port used by Tor (which I'm pretty sure is NOT the standard port 80).
