My mood on a daily basis
New members say hi, lurk for a month then leave.
That's the routine.
I rarely post, yo.
MY ANIME-PLANET WATCH LIST
AF FAMILY
Astral_Mage - Younger Brother/Confetti Brother
horrendous - Older Brother
1nterest1ng - Confetti Brother
don't lose hope guys. @Astral_Mage stuck around and he's a pretty good guy. there will be others.
It simply boils down to the site looking cheap and being extremely lackluster when compared to other anime sites. There are sections with the descriptions cut off, the arcade that doesn't work is still in place, the anime section lacks attention.
Can anyone give me a logical reason why new users should stick around here? Is there really a draw?
Probably, not.

Nonon Jakuzure - Best Kill la Kill baePretty damn great! #spoke2soonOta "The Cutest Otaku" 2016 - Lol, how's your account doing lately? Oh wait.
Fixed. :3 lol
Still you have a very good point, even though the olden fogies detest change from nostalgia (just see the reaction from the new Chat) things have to draw people in. The arcade was nice while it lasted, but it became a very major issue as far as security goes from my understanding. But why still have it up if there's little to no intention on bringing it back that can be seen from the average user's perspective? But it's not like we're talking to brick walls here, they know a lot of this and are working hard to do something if anything about it. Honestly I think there's still a lot of hope, but when you're pushing the weight of a million members both old and new on just 3 folks that run, heal, secure, and maintain the very core of this place, and let them get busy with things outside of the forum (say like having a life, or at least a job); it becomes very hard to get things going and/or even started. Sure one could say let others that know how to code get into it to lighten their burden, but it's hard to find people that know how to code and also that's burned us before in the past; so the top dogs may still be hesitant to try that again. Not gonna lie, I'm even kicked the idea around myself to learn how to code (mostly just PHP and JS) in order to help them. But right now isn't that great for me either. I'm trying to finish the last two classes for my degree, also looking at getting a new job that's currently 10 hours away from me, in which will also require a little international travel on top of it. Not really time friendly to someone that barely can spell right without spell checker, and trying to learn code. Not to mention I've also had to set aside learning foreign languages as well...
Keep it up man. I know how it goes. When I ran Mangadownload.net. I joined the army, got married, got deployed, got out of Active Duty, Worked 75+ hours a week, became a parent, started college. Real life sucks, and we all mean the best and don't want to neglect something we take pride in, but when things come down to it. We have to look at the long term what is going to benefit you when you do decide to start a family. Will it be this forum or your personal career choices and chances you take in life to make use of the talents that only you possess. I enjoy this place and get on here everyday mon-fri whil I am at work. It is apart of my morning ritual so to speak. I think there are great things that can turn this place around,
I don't speak for all of the active members, but when you like something you enjoy it. Life hands you lemons make orange juice cause it taste better. We will stick around to see things through. We are not kids anymore, and realize that life takes a lot of hardwork, and we can not please everyone.
Well you say that.... And many of a relationship has started and still going strong from here. XD
Still, If I could spend all my life here and not worry about anything else, I would. Til then I'd need my own little C.L.U. (though hopefully it doesn't go bad for me like the real one did). Unfortunately I can't, nor can anyone else. We just have to keep finding time to drive things and get things going. Though suggestions and ideas will always be appreciated, having thought out plans and ways to implement help even more. Like I've got an idea to bring back something that's been gone since 2005-2006 ish. But first I need to learn to code. XD At the moment that's slated for after my degree, but I may run into time issues as well depending on how much overtime I'm going to be pushing. After it's brought back, I plan on getting with the GFX community to bring new life into an old thing with newer designs and such. :3 Still it's gonna be at least a few years until it's finished enough for the site to be happy with it, and by then I'll need to update the whole thing again.
Baby steps. Look to your community or even the active community at least. We can try to get rid of the bulk of unnecessary sub forums. Keep things simple until the member base is there.
I don't know how the Admin CP works here if you can mass e-mail all users to kind of give a reminder that the forum is still here and running, and we would love for them to come back and rejoin the community. Some people just tend to forget about something and just need that little nudge of a reminder. I will PM you some ideas I have, but again you don't have to go with it, and I would even go as far as coding not really being an issue at the moment. The place runs find. Could it use an up-do sure, but there are simpler ways to fix the other areas other than the look.
Well we could at least start with scrubbing the closed/deleted threads that are older than 1 year... Then see about closing threads with no activity over a 1 year or 2, maybe. I think a functional plan to clean up could be made somewhere, but getting it off the back-burner with the top dogs is the tough part. @.@; At the same time it'd have to start with an effective plan and coordination with all staff.
Depends on your level I think. I certainly can't mass-email anyone. But I do believe AF emails everyone on their birthday. So we could use that as a way to welcome folks back.I don't know how the Admin CP works here if you can mass e-mail all users to kind of give a reminder that the forum is still here and running, and we would love for them to come back and rejoin the community. I personally do not think this forum is dead. It may not be as popular as it used to be, but 150+ people are still active on it which means it is still a popular and widely favored website/forum. I among many of those active people would personally be very upset if it shut down. A little more work, advertising, and elbow grease and this website would be able to make a full recovery and be as popular as they used to be if not more.

Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
Just because you're a moderator or work in a business doesn't mean your mind automatically changes and becomes 100% pro that place. I mean, Kaitou is certainly right with what he said.
Lol, I feel bad my first message didn't go through: It would of been TMZ worthy.

You aren't even in the position to help the anime sections since you aren't connected to them so you couldn't do anything to begin with. It takes more than threads being created and all that jazz.
I mean: Look what thread is currently sticky on the section:

Neither do views, but yet we still collect and calculate a statistic with them
But they could be potential members... Or regular members avoiding logging in (which is highly likely)....
^This. Having an open air of free mindedness helps create room for debate as well as innovation, so even if it where possible for anyone to be 100% positive on things here, it wouldn't be good. Why? Because then we'd be stagnate as we see no reason to grow/change. It's already bad enough as we just don't have the time or devotion for it, but to not have a drive or will for it is even worse. So negativity isn't always bad, it brings our egos into check, dreams back to reality, and us back to Earth with our envisions.
Not being position to help can be easily remedied, or at least should be. =/ Having an idea or plan to help effectively is a whole other issue. I mean if I were suddenly made part-time mod of General, what would I do? Probably not much seeing as I'm only keeping things semi-steady with General Art, Western, and Misc. By the use of your example, I'm assuming you're talking about the fact that it's been stickied since Summer 2014, and hasn't been closed, unstickied, or anything since... Well, do you have the ability to still edit the thread? If so, why not change it from a Summer Line-up 2014 to a generic Summer Line-up for future summers? That way you don't have to stop and restart a new thread every summer? I was thinking about doing the same for a August Preview thread in Western on comics, but haven't because I haven't seen much of any interest at all. So trying to keep the previews going would just about be me on my alt account and this one constantly posting once a month.... Doesn't quite bring the activity if it's just myself being active... Besides, I already talk to myself enough. I need to give myself a break from it.You aren't even in the position to help the anime sections since you aren't connected to them so you couldn't do anything to begin with. I come here once in a while, and I just don't see any interesting topics.
