Okay so who are your favorite heroes who do evil things?

You know the type. Lina Inverse who saves the world and then uses a spell (powered by the dark lord) with the power of a nuke on anyone who calls her flat chested. Professor Stein who helps but also wants to dissect everyone and every thing. Bakudo who wants to be a super hero and who wants to kill everyone. The star of Overlord. Alucard from hellsing who saves people from vampires and still enjoys drinking their blood. Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist. The entire cast of Black Lagoon. Dark Schneider from BASTARD! The guys in Hollowfied people in Bleach...

I started an anti-hero thread here some time ago. I found out that a lot of people have no idea what an anti-hero is. But it is worth another try.

Lelouch from Code Geass. In his fight against the tyrannical monarchy, in his role as Zero, Lelouch causes a lot of collateral damage with innocent lives being lost, even if sometimes it is unintentional.



Ai from Hell Girl. She may not like her job, but that does not stop her from helping people get revenge by sending their tormentors to Hell -- even if they do not deserve it. Of course, most do deserve their punishment, but the price their victim must pay is that they too must go to Hell.



The entire cast of Black Lagoon. Not too many redeeming values among that group.

I just thought of another one -- Kenpachi from Bleach. He is as scary as he looks. Kenpachi lives for the fight, as long as it is violent and bloody. That's why he is in the Soul Reaper business. His one good quality? He is loyal, and can be counted on to defend the Soul Society and it's allies.

Lelouch may have had good intentions, but he was not all that concerned with how he achieved his goals. The end justified the means, even if innocent people got hurt.

You are talking about Lalouch? Euphemia was his cousin, not his sister. Anyway, he temporarily loses control of his power when it increases without him realizing it.

Ryuk I would not consider an anti-hero. After all, part of anti-hero is being the hero in the first place, only one does not have the values that a traditional hero would have. Ryuk was not a hero.

Sesshomaru? He has his moments, like when he rescues Ren. Most of the time he is a villain. Though as the series progresses, he is less of a villain.

Quite far from a favourite, but thought I should bring him first, considering the amount of people who were talking about his actions. You have been nominated as one of the most hated characters from his year, Makoto Itou (School Days).


And now, for someone I like a lot more, I am going to nominate Ainz Ooal Gown. I have not read the novels, but we can consider him the villain, right?

Not everybody from Durarara. What about Celty? Sure she's a Dullahan, but she's a good soul. She does lose control briefly at the end of DurararaX2, but that's not her fault.

While I admit she occasionally has a good head on her shoulders, doesn't she usually work for evil people? Her boyfriend is an illegal surgeon. She hits people with a scythe, often when angry.

No, Celty helps people. She defends those in danger. Only when reunited with her head does she temporarily lose control.

But how does her getting her head back and being evil not mean she's occassionally evil?

I would say there is no good and bad sides in Durarara, it is just a war between all of them. Celty is nice to some, but the biggest villain against others. So... I would say Clayton is right here! You don't wish to be against the Dullahan and if you are, she will be certainly cruel with you. Evil points achieved.

My point is... War in Durarara is relative. There is no good or evil, just winners or losers. Indeed, Celty usually just punishes those who have hurt her or her dears first, but... Isn't punishing in a deadly way still evil somehow?

I always saw it as helping those who need help. I am assuming the local police are useless, based on what we see in the series. So someone has to avenge the helpless. Outside of that, Celty is really a nice girl.
