ESPN is now covering eSports

So it seems another step has been made in legitimizing competitive gaming as ESPN has started covering eSports. Currently, the only games with specific sections on the ESPN site are Hearthstone, DOTA2, and League of Legends; although more games are sure to soon follow.

With MLG Being acquired by Activision Blizzard, This will be pretty cool for the future of both parties. I cant wait for the numerous World of Warcraft arena tournaments (Just crazy to watch and so much fun).

I'm still not completely sure why people seem to care so much about eSports being shown on ESPN. I love eSports but having them shown on TV makes no difference to me and I assume most people who are interested in it.
I'm not saying I'm against it, just that I don't think it matters a whole lot.

afaik eSports has always been covered, perhaps not by ESPN ((There was a gaming TV channel in the UK in 2007-2010 that tracked registered eSports titles such as Trackmania Nations ESWC's tournaments ((Yes I was actually in a team that got on the news ticker one time)))) so this isn't really news to me, more a "Well, it took them long-enough to do it" sort of thing.

Also MLG got bought by Activision? lol gg no re (I know this is late but had to laugh at that).

@Ranshiin We used to have G4 here (which had a lot of gaming content), but it eventually devolved into nothing but Cops and action movies. I think it's called "Esquire" now.
