Every moment new and grey
Pass sweetly like a sapping haze
Lick my bones with sleepy glaze
To bring me to this bed of days

What things I saw but often missed
What naiads swam beside in bliss
Who stretch to sleeping hand to kiss
But I pulled away in slumber’s twist

I paid in things I’d never seen
To keep this lazy lay serene
The sun’s soft cycle slow but keen
Shaved away these nimbus dreams

What things I find when I awoke
Roots that tie and vines that choke
And sweetly fading whisper wisdom spoke
But no words came through the strangling smoke.
