I can't say i like 4 kids but i don't see them as a butcher either. After all they are a business and if they don't make cuts here and there they won't be able to sell to their target audience. After all does a kid really care about character development and story? I think all the changes were necessary and if this is getting kids into anime and getting them business more power to them. After all they are called 4kids and their changes are either not culturally relevant or not suited for a 5-10 year old. I mean i wouldn't want a kid to see death and violence too early or they might get the idea it's okay. Just think of it as a little bit of assistance for parents who can't keep an eye on their kids.

I think that might be from a common view where Christians are usually the ones who edit things like shows, movies, games, and such to protect the children's minds or something. My reasoning may be slightly off but that's pretty much what I've gathered over the years. And of course by Christians they are usually talking about the goody two-shoe stereotype just to clarify that.

Pardon, but when Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King and Pokemon were on the air, did any of you care about the edits that were made? And do any of you seriously care NOW? Because, and forgive me if I am wrong, but 4Kids tried releasing uncut DVDs of Yu-Gi-Oh AND Shaman King once before (at the request of crazy-as-hell fans who wouldn't shut up) but they canceled the project. Do you know why? Because NOBODY BOUGHT THEM! That's right, even with all those people whining about the edits that 4Kids made, barely anyone actually cared about the series enough to buy it once it came out again (even though it was they wanted).

Look, I understand that people hate 4Kids for all the edits that they did, but this retroactive hate is getting a little old (Pokemon stopped being owned by 4Kids in 2006...4 BLOODY YEARS AGO!). This company has distributed less than 17 anime since its existence, so their editing of anime can hardly be called a "problem" (let alone one that could be classified as "serious"). And of those anime, every single one of them were kid's shows. One Piece? Kid's show. Yu-Gi-Oh? Kid's show. Ultimate Muscle? Kid's show. Kirby, Shaman King, Tokyo Mew Mew, Fighting Foodons? All kid's shows. So, knowing this, did anybody watch these shows BEFORE they came here? And does ANYBODY watch them now (or would watch them if 4Kids decided to release them on DVD)?

And for ALL the hate at 4Kids, they are far from the only distribution company in this country that edits anime (if their property list is any indication, they edit the least amount of anime, strictly because they don't have that much). Did they edit Cardcaptor Sakura? No. Dragonball Z? No. Tenchi Muyo? No. Rurouni Kenshin, Sailor Moon, Blue Gender, Outlaw Star, Naruto, Gundam Wing, Detective Conan, Yu Yu Hakusho or Zatch Bell? No. So, why does everyone keep saying that they are ruining anime?

If an anime is going to appear on television, unless it comes on late-night, it is most likely going to be edited. That's just the way things are (its been this way for years; 4Kids didn't start something new). Names are going to change, locations will be altered, artwork will be edited and the names of things will change. Yeah, in Pokemon, they called onigiri "doughnuts", but did any non-Japanese child (including any of you), know what an onigiri was (and again, did any of you care)?

While Alfred Kahn has stated that he is basically making the edits in order to make money, again, this is no different from any other anime distributor; they ALL want to make money. Its just that Kahn takes highly successful anime and markets them to children (hence the company name 4Kids), which to be perfect honest, is where the money is. Kids are the ones who want the bookbags, the t-shirts, the pencils, the cereal, the posters, the bedsheets, the toys, the shoes. Teenagers don't want these things. Hell, teens are hard pressed to buy DVDs these days (if the decline of DVD sales are anything to go by), let alone anything else associated with the series, so its no wonder some companies (especially 4Kids) turn to children for money.

So let's give up this hate of 4Kids. Its really getting old. Of all the terrible edits that have existed in the anime world, 4Kids can hardly be blamed for most them (again, they have only done so much anime), even the worst ones.

Pardon me, but I didn't mention you being aggressive. Indeed this is a thread where you post your thoughts and your oppinion, infact everybody has right to say what they want. BUT, if you complain about his rage then you shouldn't show the same rage as he does, that makes you the same as him. Also, I really don't care how long you have spend your time in this forum it doesn't concern me.

Something that is really interesting is you saying that people may not be so nice because you've experienced these kind of threads before. For 4Kids, the actors are fine. Media Blasters(another dub company) uses them to dub animes like Ramen Fighter Miki and Tekkaman Blade, and they did a great job with them. 4Kids the company, is what I hate. Kill the censors, not the actors.

The OP didn't make a very good first impression here, first by ranting, talking about fundamentalist Christians, satanists, bankruptcy and what not (which made him sound like a troll; trolls are hated everywhere including here), about something that most people find stupid and then by breaking the rules by cursing over and over (reading the rules being the first thing one should have done before posting). With that behavior, I am not going to be nice about it; I don't care whether he couldn't control his emotions or whatever excuse he wants to use for his behavior (its a children's entertainment distribution company; there is only so much anger one can have for them).

If he follows the rules and learns how to gather his thoughts and post them properly, there won't be a problem. If all his threads start out like this one, his experience here is not going to go well (and is not going to last long) and while some people may be nice about it, others, like myself, will not be.

All the 90's Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons were awesome back then, you must hate Sonic or something, I used to watch Sonic X long ago Saturday mornings that's when I've noticed the changes then I started to watch the Japanese episodes in the computer, I must say the Jp voices are much better than the English ones, that's why I always played my Sonic the Hedgehog video games in Jp it's just not the same feeling in English and a lot of people agrees even my friends.

No, I love sonic, well the 2D sonic on the Genesis for the most part. Though I'm not the greatest at the games. And I liked the second cartoon. Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was the annoying one. The one I liked was simply Sonic the Hedgehog and featured well developed characters and and environmental theme set in a dark world.
