Why are you so obsessed with anime?

I think its because most anime tend to have a more elaborate plot unlike American cartoons, and the action is more intense. Thats what hooked me on as a little kid. Also it has a good visual style that I enjoy.

So anime has pretty much hooked me for a long time. Then again... it could be the panty shots.

But yeah, what Sigma said. But also because I see anime as inspirations for me. I work with graphics and anime portrays much of that. The character sucks me in to along with the story. I don't mind the fanservice as long as it's not too dependent on that unless it was meant to be.

Back than, I use to watch Pokemon and Gundam and I never once knew it was anime and I always referred it to cartoon....*is shot*

I dunno, I guess I'm still in touch with my inner child or something like that I both watch anime and regular cartoons.

They both offer something to different age groups, like Spiderman & Pokemon for the younger viewers and Batman TAS & Hellsing for the older ones (come on, rewatch some episodes of Batman TAS, that was an intense cartoon)

I think I always found anime characters more interesting than real life characters. In an anime, the character is drawn exactly like the author pictured. There is never a terrible actor visually in anime. Sometimes there can be bad voice actors but there are always subs for that. Anime was something I would use to get away too. It was relaxing knowing I could just flip on a tv and get away from real life for a bit. I didn't have to worry about my own problems, I could watch anime characters deal with theirs.

I don't watch it as much as I used to. I used to just lose myself in the plots and characters. Anime is a huge piece of my childhood and it's a love that's never left me. I don't watch it as much as I'd like to but I'll never stop watching it or reading manga. However, I think I'm more drawn to manga now

I'm not obsessed with anime, I just happen to enjoy it a lot more than other things.

As with most guys my age it started with Dragonball Z, although I'm not ashamed to admit it was Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura that turned me into an anime fan.

i watch anime because it brings me out of depression; if not that, at least it doesn't add up to my depression the way everything else does! I'm a Literature student and honestly, literature depresses the hell out of you. and it exhausts you. anime gives me a way out, at least for a little while, to spend my times on something i don't have to really think or get worried about. although most animes I have watched are packed with tragedy and sometimes little philosophical points, but i find it safe to ignore them all, because, well, it's just an anime!

It's very very simple. For the most part (with very few exceptions) All american shows have the same clichéd plot just in a different way. All the characters have the same clichéd personalities. And the plot is almost ALWAYS shallow and boring.

Anime however almost always has a very deep plot to it and is very interesting and original. They have lots of clichéd things as well but they are clichéd Japanese things that differ from american stuff, and I just think it's a nice different experience.

I also really enjoy the art style of anime,=.

O-oh. I'm a different situation.
I used to watch anime when I was a kid....but then, as I grew older, I started hating it. For many, many years I hated anime, I hated that it's unrealistic, I hated that characters have eyes bigger then mouth, I hated Japan, I hated...stuff.

And yet I kept wondering....what makes people my age(I was 16-17 when I actually attempted to understand them) and older like this crap? What's so special about it that it's so popular on the internet? I kept wondering...slowly, but steadily I started falling towards the genre....stalking 4chan excessively surely helped...deep inside I liked the silly-dressed teenage girls with huge guns. Deep inside I knew that fiction is not supposed to be realistic...
....what's funny, at some point I liked hentai but hated anime...watching angel blade...playing bible black...the hentai series with a actually a good plot..something I have never associated before with anything related to anime..and so on, and so on.

My rise(or fall?) was slow, but steady. In fact, as I look back now I don't know how could I NOT fall into anime. However, the true breakthrough came few months ago when I played touhou 6......I knew that the very moment I'll play this game I'll love it and it will be too late to turn back...
....been watching anime ever since. I have lost so many years...I have so many shows to watch. So many good stories to know.
In fact, when I finally realised it I was depressed! I remembered all those times I could be watching anime but instead I wasted this time doing boring and uninspiring stuff..
....oh, enough with my drama! gotta watch some anime now.

It takes me out of the real world. I can relax and not think about my own life/problems for a moment.
And that feeling made me addicted. And it helps if the anime has a slice of real life in it. Makes me think about myself.

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed *looks back at my $1000 collection, hours wasted on JRPG's, and my oppai mouse pad under hand*... Ahem, well anyway, it's the fact I got sick and tired of how western films/games were all about killing, drugs, sex violence (save a few) etc. Don't get me wrong, I still watch these, just far less since number since I found anime. To me anime has a far greater meaning behind the story, deep message, fantastic plot development and so forth, that said, I won't watch just any anime (lucky star is about the only thing that deviated form this rule). When I first signed up for Netflix (about this time last year actually) I stumbled per chance onto the "anime" section and said to myseld "Wow is anime retarded, might at as well check out to see how retarded it STILL is.". So I scrolled through lazily with the intention of finding one that will make me laugh my butt off at the ridiculous animation and terrible voice acting, until I stumbled across one called "Last Exile" which was about pilots and some "stupid sky courier thing" and again I said... "For the laughs". Five minutes in I had found my flag ship anime that absolutely launched me into where I am today. When I finished (jaw dropping) and clicked the second episode and thought... "What have I done?!" and I'm so SO glad I did with epics such as Clannad, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist and the like. Since then I've also had a greater state of mind. My grandfather was dieing and my mom is ill so my dad came to me one day and said "instead of playing such violent video games, try something less so, be in a healthier state of mind." Bear in mind that was a suggestion, but I stuck with it and got Tales of Vesperia to start and that was a fantastic idea. To wrap all it up, I have done what my dad hates the most (his idea in a way!) and filled Netflix and my shelf with these wonderful things from Japan and to seal the deal, enjoy the OP from my first (and highly recommended) anime! (I spent $80 on the LE set, loved it that much)

At first I was just a kid watching cartoons on Kids WB, Fox Box, and Toonami, then I realized some of those cartoons are "Anime" not cartoons. That's how it started, now as "obsessed" as I am it's just out of the fact most of TV sucks to me, and I can keep up with Anime and manga more and better than Glee or American Idol or whatever.

i got obsessed with watching anime from watching Sailor moon and i hate to admit this but also Voltron reruns
i love how the plot is alot more orignal then the american stuff
