Should I kill my pet snail?

Right, I caught this little kawaii snail today and I played with it a little, and it gave me happiness and joy, yet as the hours passed I got a little bored of the slimy little wretched beast. Sure it's cute, but I'm starting to want to destroy it, by crushing it's shell a little and making it suffer. Is this bad? Or should I just let it go so that it can live happily ever after along with it's snail friends?!? I have caught snails in the past and killed them, so I do have the tendency to kill insects if I get bored with them.
