English is awesome. It's the language you learn when you want to talk to educated people from other countries.
It's all about Dat Español, esse.
I kind of believe that sometime waaaayy in the future, after a lot of people know how to speak English fluently in the world like just about everyone, that another language will started to be learned by a lot of people so that there's 2 different languages that you can speak in that a lot of people know of.
The problem is that learning a language takes a lot of commitment and it's not practical to learn more than one language as a proxy. Hell, even if it was easy to learn a language it would still be more practical to have a single proxy because you will always know which language to use. Now if you want to learn another language on your own, that's something else.
I find kanji to be the easiest part of studying Japanese. (By the way it's "easier and more efficient")Originally Posted by Screwby

The thing about kanji is that it builds upon itself. As you get more familiar with them, learning new ones gets easier. There are nice sites to learn kanji.

English is the only language I have a decent grasp of, but from what I know of the language I'd agree with anyone dissing it. Way too much redundancy is just one flaw of it.

that'd be so funny in the dubbed version
English is so popular because it's a very old language. The British Empire (back when it was still an empire) was massive, and their language was English, just an older version. Because of British influences, not only has their culture influenced many places, so has their language. Even though the USA is considered to be the home of the modern English Language, we were still influenced by the British.
Being an English speaker myself, though, I hate this language. Too many exceptions, rules, and all this and that. At least Japanese is simple when you know what the characters mean. I agree, SCREW ENGLISH!

English isn't really much of a language these days, it's more like a cluster***k of languages and such. Ripping off every other language, and then there's British, Australian, and American.
Blegh. Not sure on how to really work out of it, being my first language and all.
English was probably the third language I had to learn. Majority of my life I've spoke Mandarin Chinese and Illonggo because of my parents. Anyway, let me tell you, it was real hard to learn and what I hated most with learning the language, people made me feel stupid and just assume that I will not progress in my life. So it really sucks. I have a fluent English accent as well as a Chinese and Filipino accent. Its a plus for me to know three languages.
I decide to be different, I'm learning Korean than Japanese. I actually find Japanese hard to learn.

Japanese... Ugh! What's that smell?
;w ; It took me forever to learn proper English, and now I know it more than my original language. :U French and English are the two official languages in Canada, bu IMO English is better because is easier to learn then French due to the masculine and feminine forms of things. xD so yeah, no screw English.
