Hmm ... the background and the character do not match. You cannot use 3D CG backgrounds with anime characters just like that. Use some filters on it to make it less CG like. Also the background is too dark compared to the character. I'd suggest you lighten it up a bit or replace it. The current text is too big too. Your name and the website's URL need to be very small, so they get hidden under the task bar of an older system (like Windows XP).
About how to go further ... the wall is currently rather empty. I'd suggest you add text to the left (maybe a logo) and blend it with the background (here exaggeration is not wrong otherwise it will stand out too much). You can also add one more character to the right side or just add more effects, C4Ds, lights ... something behind the current character.
Hope it helps. ^_^
All right, I made some improvement on it (if you want to call it that way). I still feel I need more done on it so C&C would be great.

I think you need to answer the question "What am I trying to convey with the wallpaper"
Is there an emotion or a theme? Otherwise the parts do not equal the whole and it just looks like stuff piled on. Find a theme and build off of that; just putting one cool thing ontop of another doesn't necessarily mean they'll flow. Beaches are cool and so are spaceships... but putting a spaceship on a beach looks awkward.

Wow, never took that question into account. Thanks, I'll have to revise this wall...

Your second attempt looks much better. the only thing I pick at is the text.....maybe a diffirent color oh and the bright light at the far left is very disstracting kinda takes away the attention of the girls booty. Choose one point in the wallpaper and incorparate your idea around that point. keep it flowing.

When making a wallpaper, you need to either A) Take in the character's personality and use that as a basis, or B) Take in the character's look and outfit and use that as a basis. As I have no idea what their personality is, I would go by looks. The girls are exposing a lot of skin, so I would try to make the background have a light orange, or peach color to it. Or at least have that color repeating throughout the background. I see you have purple in the background, which is good considering the one girl's hair is purple. Most of your background is just C4D, so try downloading some brushes, and use some of the effects on either Photoshop or Gimp to spice up your wallpaper a bit. Make sure to blend your character into the background, but not too much. I like to smudge just a bit in order to blend. Also, try to only use on character. Having multiple focal points can get confusing for the person using the wallpaper. Try to stay away from such bright lights like on the left. If you use bright lights like that, try putting it behind the character. It might surprise you and actually enhance your piece a bit. Make sure the font of your text always matches the mood or look of your wallpaper, or the words themselves. I would recommend downloading a bunch of different fonts, as default fonts don't always work. Also, make sure you try to blend the words as best as possible. That's a tough challenge, and I know a lot of great sig/wall makers who still have a tough time with that.
All in all, I would recommend using a tutorial. Until you develop a style, using tutorials really help. At first I didn't use any tutorials, but after using some I learned a lot of different features I didn't know about, and now I use those features quite a bit to enhance my sigs/wallpapers.
