Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

Anime seems to have hit it's peak years ago. There's still a following. Many of the younger audience just see's much of it as cartoons and not "anime" from Japan anyway.
Considering it's pretty hard to find bookstores now I don't see how it's more prevalent.
rules... I actually think that's one of the "problems" with this site.. The amount of rules.

I'd expect a lot of manga to be bought digitally. However I don't know of a good way to track that unless it gets to the point where Manga gets up into Amazon's best sellers or something, and by that point it would have to be completely mainstream.
Though on that note I do think that American media is increasingly occupying the niches anime once filled with sci-fi and fantasy series. Though quality live action special effects are still expensive so they haven't really encroached that much.
And if you're looking for a harem series, or if you want your giant robots piloted by 13 year olds than its still pretty much anime/manga or nothing.
nobody talks about (good) anime here thats why.
Well, I find the site to have its moments of frequent and constant activity and its moments of complete silence. There are various circumstances as to why some members are coming and going from this site. I still visit AF once a day to answer messages left behind by friends and I'll check blogs and maybe the forum. I don't stay on long as I have school which entails assignments and readings and papers plus exams at the end of it all. I also have hobbies that I greatly enjoy and like putting some of my free time into doing them. I also do things on weekends that are not near a computer. Everyone gets busy and life gets ahead of us. :3

ridiculous shonen/shoujo anime, the big three and anything by KyoAni before 2006 are definitely not good. We already have Gaia to discuss that stuff.
But what it good anime? That’s subjective I guess. Maybe it’s too pretentious to say anything is good or bad. It’s anime, ffs.
I guess the real problem is that we don’t talk about what’s currently airing. Because discussing recently aired episodes is really what keeps an anime community going. You can’t recycle the same ol anime discussions constantly. Not even one Kill la Kill thread’s popped up so far for example. And I’m sure that if I made one now it’d only get a few replies.
Maybe the AF users are too hesitant to post. Maybe we as a collective just don’t care anymore.
I took interest in Kill la Kill because it's from the same studio that made TTGL, but the past year or so I just completely lost interest in watching anime and with college don't have the time.
I've had Sword Art Online on my external disk for as long as my procrastination. Yay, procrastination.

To keep in the saddle ruling classes have to train you to be a good slave of the system. Anime are perfect for that. “I wanna be stronger to protect you. I’ll protect you no matter what”. What the hell! The same grozit again and again. Do you want to know what happens to countries where people think only about their families and their welfare?

It’s not a conspiracy. It’s a natural process and democracy is the only thing that can slow it down.
Anime and Hollywood scriptwriters are not free to write what they want. They are out of ideas and it’s good. Hollywood is trying to broaden the horizons - Elysium, Total Recall, Assault on Wall Street, etc. Can we expect that from Anime industry? I doubt that.
Dude I don't even use a fake name here and I'm very careful not to break any rules so I haven't been kicked out. Why would i need a second account?
However if you feel better thinking that everyone who thinks you're a jerk is just one guy, feel free.
