Q: Is Pokemon the best franchise ever? Also, are there pros and cons to it arguably being so?
My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
No, but it's better than Digimon :P
Fate has been my favorite franchise for a while now.
I say this as a person who has been a fan since the first anime.
迷いだということまで私達は自分達を見つけり始まれない

Fate keeps coming back with basically the same idea, but with a different twist each time. The latest installment is Fate/Apocrypha, and worthy of the series name.

I think there may be another Fate series in the making.
Jackie Coogan, Charlie Chaplin, and Charles Reisner as the Bully.
Reisner was a former pro boxer who turned actor, writer, and director. He previously worked for Chaplin behind the camera on The Gold Rush. Reisner would later become known as a comedy director working with The Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, and Abbot and Costello, among others.
Pokemon is drivel meant to sell games and toys. There have been some decent movies but the shows have been mostly awful.
"You laugh because I'm different, I laugh because you're all the same, the gods laugh and celebrate the differences."
From a business standpoint I definitely think it's a great franchise - there's obviously a lot of money to be had and it's generally well liked.
In a non-business view it's very medicore imo.
I don't find the anime or the card game very compelling, and I think the vast majority who would find it that way are going to be children.
The video games are excellent, but for most people they get old. Each generation only adds minor changes in terms of game play. Looking back at when I was into it, a lot of the excitement around Pokemon was due to the fact that my peers were into it. The whole "collect them all" gimmick likely is very appealing to certain types of perfectionists.
I don't have a problem calling it the best franchise even though I've outgrown it. It's hard to think of a better franchise if you're just thinking objectively of general appeal instead of your own personal preference.
Business-wise= whoa my gosh, that's a lotta' cash!!
Preference-wise= have you heard of its legendary rival?
My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
I never cringe for those Digital Monsters!!
My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
Well it's still going
Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

Hi
I'm Anime_Hunter, the new guy, nice to meet you all.
I'm going to put my two cents on the subject. I believe that the term "best" franchise, or anime, or etc. is subjective. Most people will say One Piece, some will say another.
Personally, I go to "top 5 with no particular order" route, but Pokemon hasn't been in my list let alone top 5 for a while. The reason being that the hero never wins the big one and the anime always seems, to me at least, in an endless loop of go to this place, discover new pokemons, and try to win a tournament.
Haven't played any card game, only Pokemon game I played and liked was Stadium for the N64.
P.S: I noticed when I registered there was someone else who uses the same username I am, minus the underscore.
Just wanted to say hi to my fellow hunter

When you talk games and toys yes but anime it's not the best out there.
For example, Dragonball is a good game but its not as best as pokemon.
For me,
One Piece, 進撃の巨人 (Attack on Titan) and Detective Conan are one of the best Manga,
Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geas, Death Note, Bleach are one of the best anime,
Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Gundam are one of the best games,
For the movies, I can say Detective Conan and Dragon Ball are one of the best anime in term of movies
This is my opinion
