When I say adult anime I dont mean that anime porn crao. Hentai I think its called. I mean some goon anime thats for adults without alot of kiddy crap.
Kinda like Elfen Lien...just maybe a lil less gory. I know Ghost in the Shell is good too. Also Paranoia Agent, but I wanna know bout more.

The genres you're looking for are called Seinen and Josei.
I's reccommend Berserk, Vagabond, Genshiken. Three personal favorite seinen series.

serial experiments lain? angel's egg? i can't say i'm sure that's what you're looking for, but i think they kinda resemble paranoia agent and elfen lied and fit the description of "mature anime" (if that's what you wanted to say)
