Default I need a willing person to help teach me japanese!

I am usually home all day, and I run on Eastern Standard Time. I have Skype and MSN, if nessecary. However, I need someone who is paitent and has the time to teach me daily/weekly, as I currently do not have the budget to afford any official language learning software. I am aware that japanese is a bit of a tough language to learn, but at this point, I'm all up for it.

    Please, somebody!

I really wish I could, as I love teaching languages. Unfortunately I'm currently working full-time, participating in an orchestra, volunteering at a hospital, and studying for the MCAT for med school... T_T

Hopefully, someone else out there will have the free time and kindness to help you. In the mean time, you could first try memorizing hiragana and katakana on your own, if you haven't already.

Well I can suggest something? You could watch anime on english subtittle. The charactar's voice will speak in Japanese, meanwhile there will be english text on the bottom and it's actually easy to learn that way too.

I was going to advise the exact same thing! That's what I did to learn some. lol

I use to have this colleage who did it too, so every day we met each other at work we would exchange comments. ...and some times some very dodgy comments. *tee hee* ...don't ask what kind of anime I watch.

I would highly recommend reading through Tae Kim's Japanese Grammar Guide. Every grammar topic I've seen so far is covered, and it's concise. One thing it lacks is a good indication of how often you are likely to hear various expressions (for example, it tends to teach set phrases in terms of their literal grammar). For that, watching anime, dramas, etc, is helpful. Hope this helps a little!

I would help, except I don't have enough internet for that. I can supply you with information here and there though and I am currently making a group to aid people in learning Japanese on here. I'm in Australia so I might be on if you have a few questions.
I do have a suggestion though. Don't try to learn Japanese daily. You are just going to get confused and feel like you're being pushed with it. Your mind needs time to adjust. Only do it seriously once a week with a little bit of revision in between and if you're like me, after the second lesson everything will click into place and you'll be learning it all with a breeze.
You can learn decently on your own. I've taught myself more than what was given to me.

Before you start learning Japanese, there's a few thing I advise you to do:
    1) Find a hiragana chart and start learning how to read and write about 10 different characters a week in this order:
      a) a i u e o ka ki ku ke ko (あ い う え お か き く け こ)
      b) sa shi su se so ta chi tsu te to (さ し す せ そ た ち つ て と)
      c) na ni nu ne no ha hi fu he ho (な に ぬ ね の は ひ ふ へ ほ)
      d) ma mi mu me mo ya yu yo (ま み む め も や ゆ よ)
      e) ra ri ru re ro wa (w)o n (ら り る れ ろ わ を ん)
    2) So that's one of those sets each week. Then the next set is easier to remember, and you should be able to learn it off this.
    3) Once you know all the hiragana characters, move on to katakana.
    4) Now that you've done that, start practicing how to pronounce Japanese. It takes time and the best thing to do is to always listen and imitate.

So try doing those things before learning how to speak the language and you'll have a MUCH easier time.
Here, I'll even supply you with the first sheet which you can use to learn to write the first set of hiragana off.
Just print it out and revise. http://i51.tinypic.com/206o4u1.jpg
You said that you heard Japanese is a hard language, but I'll tell you now that it's not. It may just be a little annoying learning all the Chinese characters (kanji), but don't be discouraged because even the Japanese don't know them all. ;p

I am learning Japanese by myself right now! In my opinion you have to do something in person, you should buy a Japanese book and a dictionary, then just follow the step of the book to learn, if you meet some problem you can ask somebody on the internet!
This is my idea and actually now I can speak many words now and even can understand some sentences in the anime!
    You should have a try!!!

There are plenty of materials available on the internet so you can self-teach.

Textbook wise I would recommend Genki ones, they're very good and they are the ones universities etc recommend. They are expensive but you can get them cheap/free if you know where to look. But before reading them I suggest looking at some more basic teaching websites, if you don't have any prior knowledge or very little.

This site is quite good for starting off, it is aimed at children but that means its really easy to understand and teaches you the basics http://web-japan.org/kidsweb/language/index.html

That's exactly what I'm doing right now!! Shocking that we're doing the exact same thing xD Here's a suggestion for the book (it's also the one I'm using, recommended by an acquaintance who's pure Japanese and is living in Japan). The title is ''Japanese for Busy People Kana Version'' By Ajalt. It has volumes 1-3 or so. They're about 30 USD each ($15-$20 for the book itself, and $10-$15 for the shipment fee). I bought mine at amazon. Could've been cheaper at ebay but I wanted mine brand new xD
Also, like some people said, yes, try watching anime/Jdrama and listen to japanese songs frequently. It helps you to familiarise yourself with the language.

    Ganbatte!!

I also want to learn Japanese ! I keep convincing myself it is easy to talk japanese but hard to read !! This is the problem !! I mean they don't have spaces between words, and have over two thousand Kanji characters to learn throughout 9 grades or even more !! Not to ignore katakana and hiragana !!I've learnt about 50 words already
