Ah I see. I do apologize for not noticing that post earlier.
I am still very curious if the games themselves can meet the hype. Well the Kingdom Hearts game be every bit as good as the ps2 version? or perhaps better?
I guess we will just have to find out.
(Granted yes its out in Japan but everyone has be able to form their own opinion.)
Kotaku's review on it:
http://kotaku.com/#!5771131/the-nint...ds-time-is-now
I would import a 3DS if I had money but it's not Region-Free so...
I scanned the most recent copy of Game Informer for it's article on the new 3ds recently and I'm not overly impressed by the thing, i hate to say.
And with the American release close on date, IGN already got it's one on their hands and released a review:

So this is pretty cool, you can say.
And about coins, it's something you gather when you put your 3DS on pace-mode and make 100 steps with it, and you get a coin. With those coins you can buy stuff within games, like in Super Street Fighter IV, you can buy the bonus figurines in the game. So I guess it's kind of like achievements?(even though Nintendo will never add them) and it actually rewards the players?
I will be closely following the reviews. I am very tempted to buy a 3DS, but only if it's worth the money.

Another review by Kotaku.
One of the comments after that review spoke my heart:
"I'll wait until Nintendo releases the inevitable 3DSi XL Lite. It annoys me that a new model of any electronic device I own releases just as I buy the previous model."
Funny, but true. I was always anxious in the past to get the new models (DS Lite and then DSi)and hand down to my sister my old ones, but maybe I should be just a little more patient this time.
LOL.The joys of a pedometer and Street Pass: I'm really loving the few things I've been able to test out with the Street Pass and built-in pedometer. I love the notion of a gaming device that doesn't just ask you to get outside, walk and mingle, but rewards it. Hopefully there will be a lot more to come as developers sink their teeth into these new tools.
ah, now that's the good ol' wacky, yet surprising positive-attitude from nintendo I'm used to. ^^

Yeah, like I said, those rewards are coins that you will be able to use in games, to unlock extras as figurines or cut scenes and such.
The Street Pass feature is pretty neat as well.
Also, I don't want to get one anytime soon as the games I want releases in June...

So I finally got to test run this thing.
gotta say, pretty impressive. Though, I'm not sure how the 3D would fair after several hours of play, (I could see myself constantly switching between the feature).
there's still no browser or down-loadable content for it yet though, but there's a nifty feature that allows your device to communicate with other peoples' 3DSs just by being within range of them- that's cool.

I'll get one in a week or so. My school is having a raffle for one (one dollar per ticket), so I'll take those odds over paying $250. That way I can buy some games too.
And if you lose?
Well, he will be known a loser. Oh wait, he's already a loser. Nothing to lose.
Just kidding, man. Good luck.
I'll visit some stores this week, hoping that one of them will have a 3DS for me to try out.
But then again, I'm not in that big of a hurry to get one soon, since I'm inclined to just wait for the inevitable release of Nintendo 3DSi Lite XL.
But why would you?
I was doing just fine with my original DS until I broke it (and it's still all I have =P).
The only rehash I would still see any appeal in today is the Gameboy Advance SP. That was amazing mainly due to the lit screen. It's the only (American) handheld console that can currently play GB/GBC games with a lit screen.
My GBA SP broke too. T_T
Anyway, the only reason I see not to buy a 3DS right now is the lack of games. Even so that doesn't have any kind of impact on me wanting one because #1. I want to play the two Pokemon games I've missed out on (Pokemon games are incredibly addictive and keep me playing for a long time) and #2. The console has loads of games coming out in the future that I'm interested in.
Some friends in band already have a 3DS, and they totally made me jealous yesterday. lol.
~Made by me~
Not sure if you all noticed but the official ENGLISH LANGUAGE Nintendo site has something about the 3DS (not just the Japanese site). Look here http://www.nintendo.com/3ds
I have a feeling it WILL be coming to the US, sooner or later.
And according to Amazon.com the official US release date is March 27, 2011 (not listed on Nintendo.com but often times Nintendo reveals the release date to a retailer before making the public announcement, giving the opportunity of the retailer to make the public announcement before Nintendo does themselves, so I regard Amazon's stated release date as the official word from Nintendo). This means it is, as of a few days ago now, ALREADY available in stores. Just go down to your local Target store and go to their game section, or your local Gamestop or Gamecrazy, and pick it up.
If my DSi is broken, then I'll def buy a 3DS right away, but since my DSi is working fine, and that I'm not thaaaat rich, I'll wait a little just to see how the 3DS will actually fare. Besides, if Nintendo does indeed come up with another upgrade, then I would be able to jump right to that one and skip the 3DS completely.
