First Impressions and Assumptions

Ever had a good or bad first impression of somebody and they turned out to be the complete opposite of what you first saw? And have you or your friends ever judged someone for how they looked, acted, and felt, when you're all wrong? Or, describe what it was like when somebody judged you wrong for being a certain way.


I always assume people in general are jerks just by observing them. But, I was wrong. The people in my college that I first assumed were jerks, were actually very nice, and I even made friends with a few. Talk about a bad first impression on my part >.> People assume I'm a silent, mysterious, and weird person that knows martial arts. Eh, well...they're partially right

I've seen it happen both ways. I've thought people to be the sort of people I wouldn't like, and later discovered that they're good people, as well as thinking well of people and finding them to be...undesirable acquaintances. I am thankful that there have been many more of the former than the latter.

When I was in squad bay in Camp Lejeune, my Lieutenant looked like he can skin someone alive if anyone was to mess with this guy. Turns out he's nothing but a soft pillow in the inside. Go figure. And yeah, I was actually scared of this guy. We even went out in the night and just partied it up. Classic.

I never really had a wrong first impression yet, but I remember hearing my friend's or other people saying that their first impression of me was the silent type, who can go ninja on you if I was pissed off. I'm nowhere like that

No, so far my first impressions have been correct. And I usually don't make them.

I've only been wrong about one impression. Ironically enough it was the most important one ever. Ahaha.

Actually, I'm usually right about my first impressions on people. I just chose too ignore my instincts. Because I'm not the smartest person in the world. Which gets me hurt in the end. :/ *face palm.*

When people judge me, these are the things that come out most often: Cute, happy, bubbly, helpful and party animal.

Which I guess sums up somewhat how I behave.

I don't normally judge people, it's not in my character to. I think I have once though. There is this guy in my economics glass who seems weird and creepy but I have him in a group for this huge project and he's actually pretty cool. I don't know what people think of me. I might come off as a strange or angry person since I wear all black and seem angry in the morning. I am a nice person, who hates mornings but loves black.

It's a bad habit of mine to judge on first impressions and looks. It's dreadful, but it seems to have glued itself to my behavior. I usually don't hear others' opinions about me because I'm the one doing most of it. However, usually my judgments are accurate for the most part. For example, the kids who tell everyone they do drugs, apparently want to feel cool. About of the kids at school who say "music is my life" have no musical talent whatsoever. The "gangster" girls usually want to pick fights. And so forth. :]

I tend to not like people the first time I meet them. Therefore some of my friends I thought were either too weird/too perfect etc. I also have a friend whom I used to think was a selfless shy person, but she turned out to be pretty manipulative. But I still like her for her good qualities.

I judge people all the time, I'm ashamed to say. I like to be observant and I'm a bit picky with who I want to be friends with in real life. But most people do, so... ^^;

I've done it both ways. Bummer.

I am mostly right about my first impressions on people that i meet and it take me about 2 or 3 mins to know if i like them or not. but sometime i can be wrong about someone.

It's because when a guy sees a "hot" girl, his brain shuts down, and now all he wants is dating her. However, what decides whether or not the relationship will be a successful one is not the "hotness" meter; it's the personality and maturity level of both parties.

If I want to make a relationship, the last thing that I would care about is the look. Having an "awesome" girl who is shallow and stupid is something that I prefer to live without. (Not being a sexist here. The same goes for guys too. EDIT: But that doesn't mean that I want guys!! Just stating that it applies to both...)

it had nothing to do with being hot. i liked her for who she was. she just didn't like me for who i was. haha. but she was a very cute girl, and i'm not going to be on the cover of gq anytime soon

usually its a good idea to reserve judgement about someone until you know a bit about them and their story. jumping to conclusions is what get people in trouble

Eh, my judgements are never final until I really do know that person. I always reserve judgement.
