Is Ash Ketchum Japanese?

Okay, so I know that the Pokémon franchise is from Japan. However, in the anime it's not said whether the main protagonist, namely Ash Ketchum, is in fact Japanese. I know the Pokémon world itself has a whole lot of regions, but is Ash a Japanese person?

Though it's not mentioned what nationality Ash is, there is a possibility that he could be Japanese. My theory is that he is Japanese because he is from the Kanto region in the pokemon universe which is loosely based on the real world Kanto region of Japan.

Technically in his world he is Kantonese. Being that Pallet Town is in the Kanto Region of the Pokemon world.

His name is Satoshi in the Japanese editions of the show/game, and he's actually named after the creator of the franchise, Satoshi Tajiri.

But just cuase it is based off of that it does not make him from a Continent. But it was created in Japan. The story does not revolve in Japan. A lot of the regions are loosely based of real places. At the end of the day it is still a work of fiction and should be taken as it is presented instead of trying to force a label onto it.

Sorry for the off topic, I think Ash is not japanese, the Pokémon world apparently isn't our world, he's from the Kanto region.....
