I don't think you have much to worry about when it comes to age. I'm 22, and still love things like Pokemon. Plus anime is no different then a lot of other shows its your particular interest not your age that attracts the person to a anime.

I thought was very old here! But guess I am not still I don't watch anime much...I hardly start watching a serie but when I start I never stop XP
Personaly I find it hard to be jealous of youth when with it comes general ignorance, freak facial breakouts and the reluctance to get out of bed before lunchtime.
But on a more serious note and to answer your question, it's neither strange nor unusual for someone around your age to like anime - and even if you'd still enjoy anime at 50+, that's not strange neither. Firstly, anime is bountiful and varied enough for persons of all ages to enjoy, including kids, pre-teens, young adults and even mature folk. Secondly, those who would actively oppose the reality of people watching anime past a certain age (or joining a forum of such) are effectively claiming exclusive rights of access to properties that do not belong to them, as if they are part of some private membership club - which anime is not. Finally, people around your age may watch anime (including series aimed at people younger than them) for various reasons; in my case (and I'm around the same age as you), it's usually for nostalgia and inspiration since I like to study the theories behind anime-style animation and artwork. Overall though, I like anime because for me it conveys depths of emotion more openly and concisely than any other form of animation (including live action), and I find this quality to be generally consistant with all anime regardless of which demographic or age groups they are designed for.
Hmm your old.
I wouldnt be so quick to assume that the age everyone puts on their profile is really correct.
There be some creepy liars out there. :/
Hell, who knows? Maybe I'm not really 19?? Maybe I'm a strange 43 year old man stalking cute little anime-crazed fangirls! Hurr huurr :B
(I'm totally not...btw...or AM I? O.o
Well I'm your age, so, it's not that odd.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
On the other hand, there may be people who enjoy a given series, or even a few, but don't enjoy the whole medium.
I know I fall into that category.
Besides, if anybody ever tells you you're too old to be a fan of something, just picture the average paunchy sports fan, and the absurdity of the assertion will become apparent. (They also have no chance of living in that world, indulge in a sort of fanfiction (fantasy leagues, etc.), dress up like their favorite characters, dress their children like their favorite characters, make disparaging fanboy-esque remarks about other groups they don't like, and so on.)
C'mon, man! SpongeBob is chock full of parental bonuses, which are just as fun for those who have no children. References to the temperance movement, "The Telltale Heart", real estate scams, recurring innuendos that Spongebob and Patrick are a gay couple, etc. That show is awesome!Originally Posted by Jacon's Ladder

I tried watching it with my nephew and it just gave me a headache...C'mon, man! SpongeBob is chock full of parental bonuses, which are just as fun for those who have no children. Um, looks to the left at what is says under my age.
Nah your not old.
Obviously i'm late to this, and your probably already over it. But i'll have you know you are never to old to enjoy anime.
Explorer Oak ~ Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's seed, that held its ground. Never give up!
Yeah, you're never too old to enjoy cartoons. And if I remember correctly, old cartoons like Tom and Jerry were actually made for adults. And also given that anime has some particularly mature themes and deep, compelling storytelling, I'd say it's more for adults as well the younger audiences.
This reminds me of my times when I played with my Japanese Virtual Pet called "Tamagotchi." I alway thought I was old for them, but then I realized, its what I love. Do what you love! If you love watching anime, then keep watching it 'till you die. Its something you love, so why quit it 'cuz other people think you're too old for it. Think with your heart, not with your mind. (Do what you love, not what anybody else tells you to do. ^^)
you're only as old as you think you are.
I think I start to watch anime, when I was 26, and now I'm 30.... Before that, I have no interested to some of stuff like mangas or animes. Now my wife, who is 41, like to watch animes with me. ^_^
Finally?
My BSOTW Winning sigs
I'm 29 and I still enjoy collecting and watching anime-related shows and things.
And 26? that's ancient!
Hey, I saw someone in thei forties on here, you DON'T need to worry about that.
Someone in their 40's, where?
@threewolves
You can have the crown 3wolves! Dont know if I ever had it but the few months I've been around I was worried I did!
And like @beeduq I have just recently got into it myself, just last year. My wife however, not so much. Regular tv just doesnt do much for me, heck I dont really even watch tv hardly ever anymore. But every once in a while I squeeze in an anime episode on netflix.

not any more so than a 30 year old guy, (like myself) IMHO.
still, i find that the popular Anime of today is rather squarely aimed at a younger demographic,
with a series of tastes and expectations largely all their own, and those standards seem to make things rather difficult for older fans such as myself to relate to...
trek on over to MACROSSWORLD.COM the median member age over there is about 35/40+

It doesn't matter how old you are and nor does it matter what you like or dislike. You are you and you can be no one else except for you so you will just have to live with it and hope that others do too. If other people think you are weird for your interests then do not bother with them for you are unique.
Remember that all humans are the same in the sense that they are all different so just learn to love yourself and your own set of values. I personally love nerdy girls so I, as an individual, think you are pretty interesting.
That which is; is the truth.
