To all Simmers out there: I've got a question that I just can't find the answer to!:(

If you guys don't mind me posting a question about the Sims 3 here, I could use some help. Say I have the base game, in all it's newly installed glory (no updates) and I want to update it to a certain version, say, from version 1.0 to 1.29. Without the launcher, of course. My question is, could I go to The official sims 3 website, go to their little update file archive that they have, and simply click on the download for v. 1.29 and install it alone, skipping all of the previous updates before it that are inbetween it and v. 1.0 ? (because there are a lot.) Sorry if there was a more appropriate forum for this, I wasn't sure, and thanks for the help, guys! :P

Probably not. Each update fixes lot of bugs/patches along the way since the sims3 had a LOT (hence all of the updates) If you want a better gaming experience it's probably best to just go through all of the updates. Not sure if you can actually skip the ones in-between but I wouldn't recommend it in the slightest.

You can't do it through the official website but I think you can torrent that update. Don't quote me on this though.

Too bad, I quoted you. :P lol. And you're right, I wasn't looking closely at the list of updates they offer to see that they aren't actually offering more than just info on them. All the details about them that you could shake a stick at, but no links. Grr. @_@

Some one said on Yahoo answers that they did do this, downloading and installing one single update, and that it didn't cause them problems, but i didn't want to take one person's word for it. :S I just need to get it to at least 1.29 to be able to run Twallan's story progression mod. That's the oldest he offers on his site, and I refuse to go anywhere else. Guess I'll just have to suck it up and download every stinking update they've ever released just for that. @_@ Well, thanks anyways, guys.
