Childish Anime Characters

I was going to refer to this as, “Anime Characters with Arrested Development,” but that might confuse people. So let’s keep it simple. I am looking for anime characters who are not children, but sort of act like children, or at least don’t act their age. I can only come up with a few, but I will continue to think on it and hopefully come up with more.

Yui from K-On. High school girl Yui acts like a 7-year-old. But in her it’s cute. Sweet and innocent, it comes forth in her stage presence and works into Afternoon Tea Time’s performance. It would have been interesting to follow her into adulthood, but unfortunately the series ends with high school graduaton.

Ebisu from Dorohedoro. A member of En, Ebisu is apparently a teenaged girl who has the emotional and intellectual capacity of a child. It would be cute if she did not wear that death mask. Still, Ebisu is enough of a teen to have a crush on the clueless Fajita. She does fit in perfectly with the series’ dark comedy.

Rikka from Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions. Remember when as a child you used to pretend you were some sort of superhero? That’s what Rikka is doing – and she is in high school. Well she ever grow up? There is a dark emotional trauma behind Rikka’s obsession. Fortunately, she has Yuuta to stand beside her – whether he wants to or not.

Okabe and Mayuri from Steins; Gate. Mayuri is 17 in the series, and acts like she is 10 years younger. But in her, it’s cute. Okabe is a few years older, and still plays as a self-proclaimed mad scientist trying to take over the world. Due to a tragedy, he does grow up quickly.

For some reason I think of Biscuit Krueger from Hunter X Hunter.
She appears as cute little girl and does some cutesy stuffs. But turned out she is an over-50-year-old wrestling woman who can easily whoop your donkey.
