Who is more important to the story? The hero who saves the day or the villain causing all the problems? Why? How? Where would we be without both?
Or do you prefer antiheroes?

Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

Actors often find the villains as the more interesting roles to play, especially since it gives them a chance to do things they would never do in real life. It's a great way to blow off some psychological steam.
When I say The Dark Knight, who do you think of? Christian Bale or Heath Ledger? I rest my case. The villain always wins out.

Both are garbage....
Who? You mean Michael Keaton? Also, for the record, Jack Nicholson was a way better Joker.
Anyways I don't think any role is more important. If you don't have a good villain and hero then the movie or show usually sucks. They need to play off each other well.
Michael Caine was Alfred in the Dark Knight. Forget it. It's over your head. If you haven't seen the movie, why comment?

I have seen it. It's crap. Just didn't know the name of the old dude that played Alfred.
So, villains or heroes? Who is more important?

No story without the villain. If it was just the hero and his friends, nothing of interest would happen.

Like the saying goes, "The wages of sin is death, but so is the salary of virtue. At least evil can take the weekend off."
