Default Prince of Stride - Strider's High

This song is another weird one, and I'd really appreciate any insight you guys have.

Emotion
    Drive your STRIDE

    Running high de TObu Emotion
kaze o jikan o kose yo iki o taeru made
    Drive your STRIDE

Run, striding, hurry to that goal
    Emotions flying while running high
Cross over wind and time, until you're out of breath
    Drive your STRIDE

Shut up! You guys, zombies
Be speedy, freaky

Shut up! Loser bidan ni yoeba You guys, zombies
STRIDE or die kakugo kime na Be speedy, freaky

Shut up! Loser! If you get enraptured by a pretty story, you guys are zombies
Stride or die--strengthen your resolve and be speedy, freaky

Those serious guys who started running
    Had a sweet dream--no, it's forgotten
But your heart has now grasped the cry of the wind

Emotion

Run, striding, hurry to that goal
    Emotions flying while running high
Throw away the past and the future and race through the present
Take off, striding, hurry to that far-off place
With an action that even surpasses flying high
Risk your life some more! Go with the wind [1]

Open your eyes seiron nante SUROO MOOSHON de

Open your eyes, reasoning happens in slow motion
Take or miss it? The alarm invites you, "Yeah, just be stupid" [2]

The screech of torque, a clock gone mad
With the speed of your clear senses
Chasing your tail, go past the stop signs [3]
    Taking an unknown road

    Race, striding, hurry, this sensation
    Is a momentary trancing high
Let's head for the scenery beyond the white-out

Break it, striding, hurry, your heart
Releases passion with a shouting high
Pursue everything with your innocence revived

Tick, tack, ti-tick, ta-tack, blow in the wind
Tick, tack, ti-tick, ta-tack, blow in the wind, so…

kiiro ni kawatta kodou no shingou
CHIKAtta shikai ga yume no you
zensokuryoku de saa hashireba mieru darou
atarashii sekai ga sono me ni

The traffic light of your heartbeat has turned yellow
The flickering view seems like a dream
If you run at full speed, you should be able to see it
A new world will be before your eyes

fuan mo amae mo suteyou haretsu shite'ku ZERO

In the tiny silence one second before the signal sounds
Throw away your doubt and dependence on others as zero is broken through [4]

    Shall we go?
    Striding, hurry, to that goal
    Emotions flying while running high
Throw away the past and the future and race through the present
Take off, striding, hurry to that far-off place
With an action that even surpasses flying high
Risk your life some more! Go with the wind
    Drive your STRIDE

    High ni tsukiru made

Until the high burns you to ash [5]

    Up! Up! Speed up!
So, now it is time to run.

    Up! Up! Speed up!
    kyuukutsu na sono risou
    kimerareta mirai sae
    tsukiyabure ima o yuke
So, now it is time to run.

    Up! Up! Speed up!
    Break through your narrow ideals
And the future that's been decided for you
And run through the present [6]
So, now it is time to run

[1] I think I've grasped what the last two lines of this stanza mean (though by all means tell me if I've gotten it wrong!), but I feel like the way I've phrased them is just so clumsy. Any suggestions?

[2] I'm really unsure about this line. Is the alarm inviting the addressee to "just be stupid," or is his stupidity inviting the alarms? Or is it something else entirely?

[3] The 「止まれ」 in quotes makes me think that it's referring to stop signs (see?), but I'm also second-guessing myself and would like to know if other people think that's a safe assumption.

[4] I have no idea what's going on with "破裂してくゼロ." Help?

[5] I'll definitely have a footnote explaining the pun, but do you think this is a good compromise for the main body of the translation?

[6] Of course it's literally "go [through] the present," but that sounds lame; however, I would like to differentiate this line from the previous uses of "瞬間を駆け抜けろ" if I can do that without resorting to really awkward wording. Suggestions?

Ookay, I've thought the song is cool but the lyrics are..weird.

    1. Since 風の行く先へ is more like "The place where the wind is headed", maybe they're telling the reader to stake their lives on the place? Although it doesn't really sound right.
    2. I'd say the former.
    3. Yes, it is probably referring to the road signs.
    4. This is a wild guess on my part, but since the two lines inspire the start of a race (as with the silence a second before the signal) I think this is referring to the countdown, where the the signalling pistol is shot at "3, 2, 1, 0!", hence the count of zero is broken by the bang of the pistol.
    5. Probably depends on the individual, I'd say it looks fine!
    6. Dash/ sprint/ stride through the present?

Pretty certain its "The flickering view seems like a dream" , チカった= "flicker" as in チカチカする。

    Hope this helped.

    1. Ehh, it could be, but that doesn't sound quite right to me either. (And I know what 風の行く先へ means, I just thought that "go to the place where the wind is going" was an incredibly clunky addition to an already-clunky couple of lines, so I thought... if you go with the wind, then you're going where it's going? But maybe I have to suck it up and just have a couple of really ugly lines for the sake of accuracy.)

    4. Ooh, good point. Though how to actually phrase the translation...

    6. I'm reluctant to bend the meaning of 行け quite that much, although I suppose I could use one of those for 駆け抜けろ instead.

I've never seen the onomatopoeia cut in half and conjugated as if it were a -る or -う verb before, so I googled チカった and mostly it seems to be used to mean something like "jackpot!"? And the plain form comes up way less than the past tense but also seems to be used to mean winning. On the other hand, I did find this http://www.online-instagram.com/tag/...82%AB%E3%82%8B, which does seem to suggest it can be used to mean "flickering" or something along those lines, which would make more sense in any case.

It's just how I'd personally choose to interpret those lines, but here's how I'd have it:

"With an action that surpasses even flying high,
Risk/put your life on the line some more!"

    Or something along those lines.

    1. is such an awkward line, ugh. Haze's got a neat interpretation too though, I think.

As for チカった, I've suggested it cause I had a feeling I've heard it being used this way somewhere. Also it makes better sense. Hadn't known about the jackpot part before.

The "jackpot" stuff is irrelevant really (since it looks like the word can mean flickering/wavering, it's just the least common meaning possible for that collection of sounds, thanks, lyricist), I just thought it was interesting.
