Death's revolving door policy

What is it with the way Death in anime is never permanent? I mean seriously, between clones, reincarnation, ressurection, undead, superpowers, etc. does anybody in anime (main characters only) stay dead long?
And it isn't even individuals. Someone wipes out an entire species and I swear there are always a dozen or more tucked away somewhere and they can reproduce with other species.
Even when they do die it takes forever! Like you are bleeding out all your blood and hours later still telling your backstory.

Anyone else think that the Grim Reaper is lying down on the job? Who are you favorite character that are still walking around even after they died?

this is all true except for Ergo Proxy. When characters die, usually in a sad way, they stay dead. and it just enhances the story. otherwise, you're right.

This is absolutely tru!!! Whenever I see a character die, I think to myself "meh, he be back in few episodes." And it is part of the reason why I did not freak out when Aerith died in FFVII because I figured she would come back thru some unexplained phenomena lol.

In fact there are whole anime where the stars ARE dead... Bleach springs to mind.

You're totally right. The only anime where a main character stays dead that comes to mind is L from Death Note.

Nope, not that I recall. There were actually a few characters that died in Death Note that stayed dead.

XD Well it depends on what anime you are watching, it seems that most character in a fighting anime have a much better chance to come back to life for no reason at all just look at goku gosh darn is that guy a badass. :3

Generally they only come back to life in bad anime. I actually really love it when a character dies, and they stay dead.

In any case the ones where the characters come back to life seem to happen more often than them staying dead.

Akame Ga Kill! seems to be pretty good at not having the whole revolving door policy, however they kill of so many characters in that series I'm having a hard time sticking with it... on the inverse, I do think when a character dies they should stay dead in most cases.

I remember when they crushed Bulbasaur with a boulder. For the minute before we found out he spontaneously used dig, I actually almost cried.

And the question is who is your favorite character who DID die and come back.

Kirito in The first season of SAO. Died when he fought Kayaba Akihiko (Heathcliff) but somehow miraculously came back to life because of love xD
