Black butler is a decent show.
On the one hand though, I doubt I'd actually sell my soul for anything. Especially if a demon appeared trying to bargain for it thus proving it's existence.

Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

This anime was great for the first half! But I preferred the manga over the anime. Also, don't watch the second season, it's all "what the hell happened?" kind of moment. I loved seeing this show animated, but I'm thinking the dub is better because OMG ACCENTS. Anime like this feel better in English, but I watched it subbed, ha ha.
They seem to get a few details wrong. Like TV, modern weapons, and sunglasses apparently in the 1800s to name a few
Chainsaw too

Anybody else caught up on the manga? I'm waiting to find out about the werewolves.

^OMG that pic lol I love it!
Sebastian is pretty freakin' hot thats part of the reason I watch it (so sue me, hot anime guys with british accents, what's wrong with that?) and I like the time period. I am a history buff so that's why I like it so much. I do like the supernatural/horror aspect of it too, cuz that stuff interests me as well.
So yeah, and I did like the part 2 also, just not as much as the 1st.
The snake in that picture is Wordsworth, not Oscar! Blasphemy! (Yes I somehow know most of his snakes by name and personality ffffuuu I got too much time.)
The werewolf part ended a while ago? They're getting ready to introduce the witch to Queen Victoria now.
The latest bonus chapter with the popularity poll was pretty damn funny too.
*slams open the door* Diiiiiiiid someone say Black Butler?
But yeah, like Ryu said, the werewolf arc ended a few months back. Now they're going to see Queen Victoria and introduce the witch to her, and I think they might be going to France after that? I dunno, the going to France part is just what I heard. And the new chapter is coming out in less than a week or so, so hype.
Also the shinigami are awesome
Awesome GIF by me. <3
I see all, I know all.

because Itotallyhate the color red...
Am I the only one that suspects Victoria is going to be a bit of a problem down the line?

Black Butler was too weird for me.
Edit: A couple of the later episodes were fairly humorous. OVA 5 "Spider's Intention" may be one that I'm thinking of. The series doesn't take itself too seriously and has a unique sense of humor.

Did you guys watch the Book of Murder or Book of Circus? I really liked the opening for Book of Circus
Book of Circus is my favorite arc from both the anime and manga. Book of Murder is great too, but I still don't understand why they made it a two-part OVA instead of its own season, like Book of Circus. I hope they don't do the same thing with the Ship Voyage or University arcs coming up. Seasons are a lot more fun to watch imo, as opposed to movie-length OVAs.
Did any of you read the manga?

I own every manga that's been released in North America to date. I love the manga and up until the more recent Book of Circus season, and Book of Murder OVA it covered a far different story line than the anime. I'm a part of the blackbutler.net forums and according to their information there's going to be a new theatrical release for the anime. Apparently no more news has been released other than that, but popular belief is that it will be a manga adaption of the "Campania Arc" or "Ship Voyage" arc. I find it interesting with all the new anime adaptions trying to follow the manga more faithfully that they haven't just bothered rebooting the series like Fullmetal Alchemist did. Oh well, should be fun regardless.
I only watched one episode on Netflix but I like the other ones, like Heaven's Lost Property better, but Black Butler is OK, I might watch more episodes of that series eventually.
The manga for Kuroshitsuji is much much better than the anime. They unfortunately left out a lot of the really good parts of the story.
I really like it though story-wise. Not sure if I'd sell my soul to a demon, it would depend on the situation and what he/she had to offer.
people like to diss the second season, but aside from the ending i thought it was pretty decent. probably because i rather liked claude and alois
haven't seen that book of circus series yet though
wouldn't sell my soul to a demon considering that i am a demon myself
786 Black Butler is the only anime I will watch dubbed, just for J. Michael Tatum's rendition of Sebastian.
Looks like I'm really out of the loop, I had no idea there were OVAs too. Thank you all for this information!
The Black Butler Manga is Soooo much more interesting then the anime...oxo And makes more sense than the second season of the anime too.
How'd You Like That On Your Lawn?!"I may be empty, but I'm not worthless!"
...Clear...
I really enjoyed the anime so Im hoping that any future BB released will stick a little closer to the manga, and although I agree that the second season is pretty crap compared to the first season, I enjoyed Alois' character quite a bit.
I really liked the first season of the show... It got a little weird and confusing in the second season though. My favorite character was Lau especially when he played the caterpillar in the Alice episodes!
Read the manga. It has continuity.

Hi everyone! Along with the anime and manga, how many of you remember the Black Butler game? "Phantom and Ghost" was released for the DS in 2009, and has an original story written by Yana Toboso herself! You can play as Ciel or Sebastian in a choose-your-own adventure game, featuring puzzles, mini games, and much loved characters... In other words, it's a MUST play for any fan!
The only problem is.. most of us can't play it. No English translation has never been made.. Until now.
I'm part of a team hoping to make an English Patch for the game, but in order to succeed, we'll need help! We're looking for translators, proofreaders, formatters and game testers to join our team and help us make this awesome game available to a wider audience. Please check out our website for more details!
You can also help us out by spreading the word! Please ask your friends, or write about us!
If you'd like to get in touch, you can reach me at this forum, through our tumblr, or by emailing [email protected]
Thanks for reading!!
