Calling all Japanese mythology buffs!

I'm currently working on an anime-like romance story and am debating whither to include a science fiction element to it. I can't really watch anime or read manga for ideas simply because I don't know how much is recent additions to old models. The US movie industry can't. Be the only ones giving new life to old monsters. I'm looking for demon or monster-like, preferably. Not vampires, for obvious reasons. But if anyone knows of some websites, stories, and so forth let me know. Thanks!

Similar list to what I found on Wikipedia, but the entries have a fair bit more detail. I will look over the site more thuroughly when I have a chance. Thanks!
