Food Wars
Food Wars started on Toonami/Adult Swim this weekend. I caught episode one. It is a change from the usual. But having female characters attain orgasm when enjoying a fine dish is a concept which could get old pretty fast.
I know others have talked about this series in brief. Anyone else see it? Or anyone want to comment -- without spoilers.
Jackie Coogan, Charlie Chaplin, and Charles Reisner as the Bully.
Reisner was a former pro boxer who turned actor, writer, and director. He previously worked for Chaplin behind the camera on The Gold Rush. Reisner would later become known as a comedy director working with The Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, and Abbot and Costello, among others.

Yeah I... I watched it because of my love for Yakitate!! Japan, as it's a somewhat similar theme. Though food wars is about food in general and Yakitate!! is just about bread, (Without spoilers) as both go on there are a lot of similarities (While still being very different). And yeah, again, the fan service is over the top. Like, I love on Yakitate!! that they had reactions to the food, but they were funny. In 69 episodes (Yup, that's how many it had) only 2-3 'reactions' were sexual/moaning. Having it be the only reaction this had made it get old for me too. I really like the story but, I got bored in the last season. With the new one coming out, I might go back and try and finish it. I dunno.
But if you can put up with fanservice and their bad reactions, it's an interesting plot otherwise.

I have nothing against fan service, unless it is overdone, or used in place of a story or character development.

Are you talking just about Food Wars? Because I only have seen the first episode, so I am not yet in a position to judge the series. If we get it every episode like it was in episode one, then probably it will be overkill.

I watched this series on Viewster, it is really a good series, I liked watching the cooking contest to see who would win. I would suggest watching the series, it's much different than the usual shounen fare that Adult Swim serves up, quite a different dish!
