    Default Love Done Right

Okay we all love questioning the writer's choices. We ship, write fan fics, draw fan art, look it up, and just argue at conventions about who should be with who.

So what animes got it right? Which series went the way you think it should, got the right couples together. and all around touched your heart as the right couple ended up together. died tragically, or ended it? Which series got the romance 100% right in your opinion, whether it worked out or not.

Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

I think I've said before that I'm a picky anime fan, and only watch certian things. The animes I usually watch usually don't have a serious romance going, or like in the case of Ouran (in the anime at least) are left semi ambiguous. Now,pictureguy told me that in the Manga that they did end up together, but I haven't read it. Mainly the anime's I watch either don't have a major romance or they are left ambiguous. Although, thinking about it more, the one exception that comes to mind is Toradora!. I did like them as a couple.

I would say any kind of love is well done. In italics, because it depends completely on the person. Sometimes, cheesy silly love works because you do reflect on it or because you wish to have the same experiences. Retro shoujo anime does show this perfectly well, and started some stereotypes that might be shown poorly nowadays, but... why should we judge it if it has not aged well?

Interpretation is what matters, and then it comes the way the plot makes you feel. Maybe you enjoy seeing a pair of silly, clumsy characters who do everything wrong and makes the real romance work much later (Kimi ni Todoke), or maybe you would rather choose something that is very straight forward and can't be stopped no matter what (Ore Monogatari!), or maybe you prefer something twisted that works out and you don't even know why (Mirai Nikki). Others do prefer harem, simply to see a group of cute guys (Fruits Basket), or something that goes long lasting and lets you see character evolution with time (Itazura na kiss). Or maybe you do just enjoy drama! (Clannad)

There are so many kinds of love, and... all of them work somehow, right? Toradora is also considered a twisted example in my opinion. I would say, somehow... manipulative? But enjoyable, and well represented.
