Everything was in turmoil. Trost was in ruins, and the Retrieval Squad had
gained no leeway in reclaiming the city. The entire district was buried under thick
blankets of fire, smoke, and steam. A blue flare was shot into the sky, ordering
an immediate retreat back into Wall Rose.

Only around 20% of the soldiers returned from this hellish scene, and even then,
most of the survivors had suffered heavy injuries. Those that were physically
unscathed, were still suffering from the mental and emotional trauma of
seeing their friends being eaten alive.

The civil unrest within Wall Rose was swelling exponentially. Given the earlier
appearance of the Armored Titan, many people were already evacuating towards
the Ehrmich District on the south side of Wall Sina in fear of the inner gate
being breached, just like 5 years ago.

If that were to happen, Humanity would have no choice but to cage itself
within the small space of Wall Sina, which would inevitably cause an outbreak
of corruption and revolution. From there, Humanity would lead itself to
its own demise.

One of the uninjured soldiers stood at the stables, tending to the panicked
horses in a soothing voice. "Shh, there there, it's alright, you're going to be alright."
The horses calmed down a bit, nickering anxiously.

"You're awfully chill," one of the other Scouts said from behind the kind soldier.
"You mind telling us why that is? Is it because you're one of those freak Titans
that can shapeshift into a human? I bet all of this is going exactly according
to your plan, am I right?! You goddamned monster!"

The kind soldier backed away apprehensively as a small crowd gathered around them.
"I... I don't know what you mean..." They said quietly. "I'm just trying to stay calm.
Nothing good will come of panicking... Please calm down..."

The crowd exchanged uncertain glances.

"To hell with that! You're just wanting to lure us into a false sense of security!"
One of the frightened Scouts yelled, brandishing a dull blade threateningly.
"What if I sliced your head off right here and now? Will you still keep that
happy-go-lucky attitude?!"

"No, p-please..." The cornered soldier pleaded, tears forming in their eyes. "But I...
I don't want to cause any trouble... If you're really intent on killing me for
being a monster, just please, you have to promise me, that you will all
survive... For me, and for everyone else's sake..."

The kind soldier lowered their head and closed their eyes, obediently awaiting
their unjust execution.

The crowd murmured, and they pulled back the aggressive Scout. "Let it go, dude.
Do you really think a Titan would be like this?"

"There's no way."

"They're right, we can't get all paranoid and start backstabbing each other."

The crowd dispersed from the scene, and the kind Scout heaved a sigh
of relief.

[Humanity] tried to lynch [???] but failed!


One more night... just one more night... That can't be too much to ask for, can it?

The rain was relentless.

Nodoka left the safety of Wall Rose in a last ditch attempt to reclaim Trost, Humanity's
last line of defense. She was with a small group of other Elite soldiers that had
survived the carnage, and still had the will to fight. She flew above the rooftops
with the others, wiping away a burning mix of rain and tears from her eyes.

"Captain Levi... Petra..." She thought to herself, "I won't let your deaths be meaningless.
Even if I'm the last one standing...!"

Nodoka was the most experienced out of the squad, with over 30 solo kills during her short
career as a Scout. As such, she was appointed leader of the Special Ops Team.

"Soldiers, split up into pairs from here!" She ordered, and the squad dutifully obeyed. Nodoka,
however, continued alone. She shot herself into the sky, so high that the sound of raindrops on
the rooftops was barely audible anymore. She let her mind go for a moment, remembering
the times with her former squad. She choked back a sob and stared up at the heavy clouds,
which seemed just barely out of reach.



"I refuse to die until I make those bastards pay!"

Nodoka swooped down into the street, and sliced off the nape of a Titan that had been lingering there.
She flew forward, and slayed another. And another. Each new kill was accompanied with more anger and
hatred than the last, until Nodoka was blind with tearful fury.

She came across an abnormal that was grasping one of her squadmates in its hands. She shot down
and slayed it so aggressively that she almost decapitated it. The soldier writhed his way out of the
dead Titan's grip, thanking her profusely.

Just then, a Titan jumped into the street above them on all fours, caging them under its grotesquely
long and twisted limbs like a giant, hellish spider. It looked down at them curiously, before swallowing the other
soldier in the blink of an eye.

Nodoka reached down to replace her dulled blades, but the crawler lurched forward and snapped
her spine with one clean bite. There was a single quick moment of agony,
a spray of blood, and then nothing.

The Titans have killed Nodoka Miyazaki ! She was [???]!

Back within Wall Rose, the rest of the soldiers were either gazing out over at the
destruction of Trost, or assisting with the evacuation of the refugees deeper to human territory.



Among the escorts was ZombieWolf, Galleya, Albear, and Foxy.

"I can't believe this is happening," Albear said. "What has the human race ever done to deserve this?"

"What does it matter?" Foxy answered. "Those bastards just do it for fun. All we can do now
is try and reinforce the Wall Rose gate to prevent the Armored Titan from showing up
and letting his little buddies wipe us all out."

ZombieWolf spoke up. "How were we going to reinforce the wall from that?"

Foxy frowned. "The hell should I know?"

Galleya remained silent.

The refugees were clambering into boats and carriages headed for the southern district
of Wall Sina. The four squadmates watched grimly.

Their friends were dead, their superiors were dead. Hardly any Scouts had survived the
ordeal, and the easygoing Garrison troops had all but been wiped out. The tragedy
of Trost was only the beginning of the Civil War that would follow, as refugees
would start fighting for food and land within the cramped spaces of Wall Sina.
No one was willing to stay within Wall Rose; not since the sighting of the
Armored Titan.

"So what you're saying is," ZombieWolf asked cautiously, "that even after the
breach in Wall Maria, no one's bothered to make any alterations to gate to Wall Rose
to better prepare for the Armored Titan? It's just as vulnerable as before?"

Foxy sighed. "Well when you put it that way it makes us sound incompetent. You
can blame those damned Wallists. You know them, right? The cultists from Wall Sina.
They've gained so much power and authority, that the mere suggestion of altering
their sacred Walls can land you in prison nowadays. Those clueless dumbasses."

Galleya and ZombieWolf stopped walking.

"What's the matter?" Albear asked.

The two soldiers exchanged glances, and nodded. "Time to move out then," Galleya murmured.

Foxy and Albear watched in confusion. "What do you mean, move out?" They said in unison.

"We have some unfinished business." ZombieWolf replied, turning back towards the
Wall Rose gate. "It's been fun, guys."

"We're sorry about this," Galleya added.

Before Foxy and Albear could assess the situation, Galleya and ZombieWolf turned away,
and bit down on their hands simultaneously.



A deafening roar of thunder, a scalding blast of heat, and the sound of bones and tissue
forming out of thin air.

Within seconds, Foxy and Albear were enveloped in the huge shadows of their
traitorous friends. ZombieWolf, the Armored. And Galleya, the Colossal.

The single greatest threats to Humanity had really been under their noses
this whole time. And there wasn't a thing anyone could do about it anymore.

ZombieWolf got to the edge of Wall Rose first. He charged forward, shattering the
first gate. Galleya slowly followed, his steps crushing dozens of houses
and people with each stride. He lifted his massive foot, and broke through what was
left of the gate, leaving an unblockable breach in the last line of defense.

The sudden appearance of these two had summoned other Titans that
had been lurking in Trost, and Wall Rose was swarmed almost immediately.



Foxy and Albear gazed upwards in silent, dumbstruck disbelief. ZombieWolf
and Galleya looked down at them for a moment, just before they were surrounded
by the oncoming horde of Titans, and torn to shreds.

The Titans have overwhelmed Humanity!
