Death Note was GODLY up till Light's friend death and went downhill from that.
Code Geass, was never anything really special, in other ways you could say it was a rip-off of Gundam.

Lelouch wanted to destroy Britania just because he was basically treated wrong and his mother killed by a Britanian because she wasn't a Britanian herself. On the other hand, we have Light, who wanted to change the world for the better, his actions might not have looked like the road to a better world but still, he wanted to change it in any possible way he could and the first step in that was cleaning up all the current trash in the world and to tell you for a fact, it worked, If you have read the Death Note Oneshot, Nero says it himself that all crimes have went down by over 50%, so Light's method worked while Lelouch's rebel, it didn't work that well, Britania is still Britania and Japan is not free.

I would if only this wasn't something to debate about, if this is about which is better written then those who are debating this should know full knowledge of both series, so marking spoilers wouldn't be necessary.
