Connection Between Kanon and Clannad?

So, I've just finished watching Clannad, and now... Well, five minutes ago i started watching Kanon. And frell ME. I saw similarities as soon as i pressed play. The style of drawing, the overall feel, the beginning of it, the intro; But seriously, it's probably just coincidence. I got past the intro, thinking, it's gonna be totally different! It's probably just coincidence! NO. That girls voice, that sounded almost identical from the girl in the parallel universe in Clannad, started talking, in the exact same tone, about SIMILAR things. That's when the line was crossed. I can't continue to watch it, until i find an answer!

So. Is there any connection, be it same companies, or some kind of weird, spin off thing, please tell me! This is bugging me. There's GOTTA be some connection, right?

Edit: I just realized they're made by the same company. BUT STILL THAT'S NOT AN EXCUSE!

They both used to be visual novel games released by a company called Key. Jun Maeda wrote the script for, and contributed to the production of, both games. He also wrote the music for both.

Basically, they're both written by the same author.

^ Yep. I will just add Air and Little Busters for his other works that has been adapted as anime


Also, don't forget Akiko's infamous jam! It existed in both animes. xDD

Which Kanon? First or remake? ... I guess remake since with Clanad they are both from KyoAni ... as was Air too.

Key made Anime's like air,Clannad and ,Kanon
They also have the same charcter design and i believe also the same voice actors.

Key did not make the animes, but VN ... it's a big difference. KyoAni is the studio.
