Default The Greatest Accomplishment in Human History

What is the greatest accomplishment in human history? I think the discovery of fire. O.o'

    Go Fire.
On this day of days, most epic and prideful, you were born 15 whole American years ago!
Through the odds and by doing the impossible, you beat out hundreds of thousands of siblings in the great sperm race for the coveted egg.
    Probably via hax.
    Regardless! You won!
So remember, whenever someone picks on you or calls you weak or small.
Just remind them that you beat out a few hundred thousand other wimps.

And the grand prize was not dying!

I say the discovery of electricity, because without it we wouldn't have many of the things we have today, like computers, phones, refrigerators, and basically anything that uses electricity.

Charles Babbage designed two working mechanical computers (The Difference Engine and the Analytical Engine) in the 1800s but never actually built them. I dunno what you mean by a "hydraulic" computer though. Example?

    Edit: Ok found something.
1936 is the year I got. This thing at least doesn't really predate digital computers. Plus it is silly, even if it does make a certain amount of sense.

I see a lot about hydraulics, but nothing about computation. He created programmable robots, but that isn't the same thing at all.

Hmmmmm touche. But with a train it is limited to places to go. With the car it could take, sure a minuscule amounts, but it could get to places were a train could not get to.

Thank God no idiot has said something like birth control. There always seems to be some witty 12 year old that says it in these sort of topics.

I'm gonna say the English language.

They are devices with only limited usefulness, constitute a great waste of resources, and manage to kill a XBOX HUEG number of people each year. They are a mixed blessing, at best.

    Sliced bread.

Seriously though...language. We wouldn't really have gotten very far without the ability to communicate.

I'd have to say either fire, as Memento Mori said or the invention of moveable type (Johannes Gutenburg's invention of the printing press). The invention of the printing press was the thing that sparked the Scientific Revolution in the Renaissence (sp?) and that was where mankind really started to get a grip on mathematics, sciences (Mostly human sciences, like medicine), and astrology. So since the printing press was really the thing that kicked off the scientific revolution by improving the method of moveable type and the spread of ideas to greater masses of people, yeah I'd say it was the printing press ^.^
