Something's fishy, as this error appears in multiple western transliterations (https://www.megalyrics.net/neon-gene...hi-wa-sayonara, http://www.lyricsreg.com/lyrics/shir...i+Wa+Sayonara/, http://sakurasounopetnakanojo.wikia....i_wa_Sayounara, and http://www.animekaillou.com/neongene...asayounara.htm, all in the top Google results for western website). Only http://lyrics.snakeroot.ru/D/DEEN/de...sayounara.html seems to get it right.


In defense of those lyrics, the Evangelion version (https://youtube.com/watch?v=knFqOa_vYaI?t=28) does indeed sound a lot like a wa to a ear who's not paying a lot of attention. This confusion is not easily achieved in the other versions of this song (such as ryoko's 1967 recording: https://youtube.com/watch?v=YNQT68uHpyg)

I'm happy to add information on where the song originally comes from if you want to give it to me, but it would be very strange to state on the Evangelion page that a different cover of this frequently-covered 1960s pop song was used in a random unrelated anime that Evangelion fans may or may not know or care about. I can crosspost to the Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo page, though, if you give me the artist information for that.

I've made the fix to the Japanese and romaji lyrics.
