Cold Weather!

Hey everyone !

so the weather ppl on tv said here, that there was gonna be the coldest winter in a 1000 Years! yes 1k and not 100. xD so i was wondering, dose anyone else have extreme cold weather more than normal ? the coldest we have had it so far is down to minus 15 degrees celcius. and we had the earlyest snow fall on over a 100 years early this month. im so not looking forward to this winter att all! mabe i should buy some tickets to australia !

I live in Maryland, and this past winter (Jan-Feb 2010) was definitely one of the coldest and most snowy of all I've seen. Multiples snowfalls of more than 2 feet is kinda ridiculous for my geographic area.

However, though, this year's summer was also intolerably hot, so I don't think the weather's getting as much colder as it's getting more extreme.

I hate cold weather, I live in Florida and it dose get cold down here but normally for only a week or maybe a few weeks then back to sunny and warm. I love this state!

The reason this winter is going to be cold (or at least snowy) is the recent volcanic activity. Volcanic ash creates nucleation siteswiki for ice crystals, and therefore lots of snow. Snow proceeds to reflect light back into space, and hey presto: Cold. If there's A LOT of volcanic activity, things can get kinda crazy, with snow and ice covering large parts of Europe. Though I don't think what we've seen this year is enough for that.

This month has been slightly colder than usual, with temperatures of about -10 C (occasionally dropping down to -20), and the snow has been a little early as well (we've got well over 30 centimeters / 1 foot now).

I believed last year was the coldest winter I have ever witnessed and felt. It got up to -50 degrees Celsius. The coldest there has been so far this winter is nearly -30 degrees Celsius. I am just waiting for more snow to fall. Normally get lots of snow. There were drifts that were five feet high and some even higher than that. I think the most snow we ever got was.....maybe...roughly 2 feet at most in a day.

The worst I've ever seen in Sweden was -40. But then, we're so close to the ocean that it's hard to get much colder. I think you need to be in Russia, Canada (possibly also Alaska?) or Greenland to see temperatures like that (besides like Svalbard, the north pole, etc.).

I hate the cold. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. I hate being cold, I hate it when it's cold. I like to be nice and warm. :] Plus, I hate the snow. It's cold, and annoying, and it gets in your shoes... Aha. :]

i don't know what temperature it is here but we had snow and it was freezing so pretty cold. In winter here its consistantly aither raining and cold or snow/ice and cold.

I guess you might see temperatures like that up there. I'm "down" in Umeå, so it's less likely here. And no-one knows how to spell it, it's like that icelandic volcano eskuallaafjallajokulfjulfallajalakokul.

It's 36 degrees Fahrenheit up in Detroit. I just hope that in this winter the temperature doesn't drop to -16 degrees Fahrenheit like it did in January this year.

I wish that was only as warm as it ever got where I live.

Two years ago it was 85 degrees on the day after Christmas. I don't live in Florida. So that is ridiculous. VERY ridiculous.

Last winter was epic, though. We had a blizzard on the day before Christmas and had the first white Christmas in exactly 10 years. Last winter was so cold that even the 50s were hard to come by. That snow stuck around for like three weeks. It was awesome... In the years before that snow hardly stuck around for an hour after it fell. And really three weeks was the longest I had ever seen snow stick around by far.

Plus, we had a day where it stayed in the teens and we had a low of -1 degrees.

I miss that now. This year is predicted to be a "mild and dry" one, and where I live you might as well just say "Where Fall ends, Spring begins" because we aren't getting a winter if that stays true. If during a "normal" winter 50s and 60s are very common, no a mild winter is not a winter.

That and as of the day before and Thanksgiving we've already been set up to the bipolar extremes of the 07/08 and 08/09 winters. The day before Thanksgiving it got up to 80 degrees. Thanksgiving it was in the 30s and there was even sleet and snow around.

I don't want bipolar, I want a repeat of last winter... Even colder.

Yeah, I know, I need to move way up North. I'm so sick of these stupid "mild" winters. They're so boring, and when it stays hot for all of the other seasons I really need an escape from it, and this summer was hot.

I live in Northern Alberta, Canada. That the coldest it has even been here. Hoping it doesn't get any colder than that. :3

I love the cold but the coldest it's been for me here in Australia is.. somewhere between 5-12 degrees Celsius.. and now it's summer it might even reach 40 degrees Celsius here. >.>

Atm it's -1°C. Coldest should be -6°C (if we can believe the weather forecast that is. Combine that with endless rain and harsh wind.. welcome to Belgium. But hey, atleast I can waste more time watching anime.
