Any tips to help get reputation up?

I'm been on for a while, and I see people who have joined a month ago and they have like 149 rep or something like that.

Any tips on helping getting rep up? Besides just asking other people to just click on it. I think that's kind of cheating.

Make posts that are worth giving good rep? Maybe a funny/intelligent/informative post.

You can try not making a thread about getting rep cause that usually causes people to deter from giving you rep.

I've encountered similiar problems like this on multiple forums. It's best to avoid giving birth to threads like this, because they will make you look slightly desperate. I'm sure you meant no harm but that's just how it tends to go, from what i've seen atleast.

Another something i've noticed is how the Reputation-System gets misused. A common example would be; "I'll rep you if you rep me!" Which kind of beats the whole purpose of the system. All I can suggest is to give it time. Don't cheat the system by asking for reputation, but try to earn them properly by helping out fellow users and by posting informative threads instead.

A good tip is to have really high rep. Because then people will good rep you hoping that you'll rep back.

wait, so following the logic, mathematically speaking, as the ratio of people repping you for having a high rep, your rep will increase and the ratio with increase the same.

So, eventually, it will approach 1, and your reputation will reach infinity.
