I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
I found out about Lucky Star from someone's signature. I wanted to know more so I went on Wikipedia. It seemed okay until I got to the reception section of the article, where John Oppliger calls it "the ultimate in fan service" and "witty, self-indulgent, guilty pleasure". I just want to know if there's actually anything nasty in it.
Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
I was watching this funny Luckystar parody video
and in one of the scenes (the one where the blue haired girl is stroking her hair) it appears she's not wearing anything. Regardless of any of the other facts and how "appropriate" or "kid friendly" the show looks, that one scene would guaranty it would NOT be shown during a kids show time segment on American TV (at least not without editing, most likely complete removal of that scene). Thus Blueangel06661's above statement that "It's squeaky clean." is NOT ENTIRELY TRUE. If it were true, then it WOULD be a show that could be aired UNEDITED during a kids show time segment on American TV. So the presence of that scene in question DISPROVES Blueangel06661's statement.

Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
^Not entirely true, as her hair are so long, you wouldn't see anything, there's also Dragon Ball where Goku as little is naked(WTF?!), then there's other shows that is including scenes where people can be naked, but censored by clouds or towels, cause showing the body without censoring is adult material, which are not supposed to be there.

Before I get mad and want to cuss you out. Watch the actual SHOW first. Not some random abridged series before providing a statement. Lucky Star is just a normal otaku based anime. Has no Hentai or anything in it. So just hush and come back when you know what you're talking about.
Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
well if you think about it most cartoons have adult scenes in it. Tell me one anime that doesn't and prove it, or some type of pervert scenes in it. Pokemon has some, Digimon does as well... YU-GI-OH has some as well so they all do. maybe recently those images have been deleted from American tv but that deosn't mean it doesn't have anything in them.

I know its not hentai, but it's not "squeaky clean" either. If it was "squeaky clean", then that scene wouldn't even be in the show. The fact that a parody of the show using clips from the show is proof that the scene did exist in the original show.
Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
There's no visual fanservice, no sex, no nudity, etc. It's just ridiculously moe and one of the main characters is a raging ~10 year old otaku. It's just a regular gag manga, made to pander to 20+ otaku who love them some objectified little girls.

Okay but that's not really anything you'd think twice about? You shouldn't be watching anime if you're that concerned over that little scene. Even in Tokyo Mew Mew which was aired on 4kids.. The girls are naked in their transformations...... What now? All I'm saying is Lucky Star is a good show and that the OP misinterpreted what ever article they read and the show is pretty much a clean show except for what one scene that exposes nothing?

So let me ask you this. Can you point to ANY anime (usually more heavily edited than cartoons made right here in the US) that has a scene EVEN IN the the "edited for kids TV" version? Let me pose a variant on that question too. Can you find a scene in any American cartoon for kids or any anime which has been edited to be shown on TV during a time segment for kids programing, which shows a FEMALE character in a way that either shows (like in the above Dexter video) or implies nudity (using careful camera angles or only showing character from the shoulders up) of the female character?

Actually the scenes are shortened and you only see them clothed. No nudity is even implied. It is edited to imply their superhero clothes instantly replaced their regular clothes.
Also this argument isn't about whether or not I'd watch it. I've seen LOTS of worse animes, such as Elfen Lied and even Bible Black. This argument is SPECIFICALLY about the wording used by Blueangel06661. He said "It's squeaky clean". My argument is it's NOT "squeaky clean" if ANYTHING objectionable can be found in it (objectionable in the sense it would have to be edited allowed to run on a kids programing TV time slot, or else without editing would get bumped to a mainstream programing TV time slot with a PG rating). I poked a hole in his "squeaky clean" argument by pointing out that scene. And the only way he can patch that hole is by giving a good counter argument, which means he'll have to be able to answer this above question
Can you find a scene in any American cartoon for kids or any anime which has been edited to be shown on TV during a time segment for kids programing, which shows a FEMALE character in a way that either shows (like in the above Dexter video) or implies nudity (using careful camera angles or only showing character from the shoulders up) of the female character?
with an answer like "yes such a show does exist, and it is called (fill in name here) and in episode (ep#) it showed (fill in description of scene here)".

Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
Heh, Lucky Star... It's a very slow-paced derp about the daily life of "high school" girls who look like kindergarten children. The end.
The moral value of the story is: kindergarten girls look cute. How you take that, it totally depends on you.
I kinda liked it (YEAH, I said it's derp, and I liked it. Got a problem? ). I like cuteness anyway... Though I can't imagine how in the world perobears can fancy those poor girls. ;__; Lolicon sickens me to no end.
I haven't finished it yet. It wasn't interesting enough to make me watch an episode every day. But I haven't stopped it either. I'm just going very slowly with it.
TL;DR There isn't anything particularly wrong with it if you are not a pedobear. But there isn't anything all that interesting about it either... maybe besides from some "parody" and inside jokes.

Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
Videogamer555, I love helping you look like a fool SO much that I'm going to do it again.
WHY are you debating this you hentard? do you really have nothing better to do with your time than pick apart and destroy a simple phrase like "squeaky clean"? I mean really dude, Yukitomon just wanted to know if the show was dirty or not and you blow it up into this big argument about whether Dexter's Lab is kid-appropriate or not? WTH DUDE?
A simple answer like "Well, it's not entirely clean. There are some slightly obscene parts in the show, but nothing over the limit, per se."
Would have been much better than "Blueangel ur an idiot itz knawt skweeky kleen cuz iv wathed a parodii uv it n i kno mor thn u abowt dirtee showz lyk hentie lolwut!!!!11!1!112"
Dislike, down rep.

Now that I'm done with that, Yuki, keep in mind that the "reception" part of articles is based off of someone's "professional opinion" and may not always be accurate. For instance, on the information tab on my Dish program guide, Adam Sandler's Waterboy was only given 1 out of 4 "stars". It happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time.

Kaitou Ace: Before she gets eaten by zombies,
let's change the camera angle so you can see her panties.
Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
@VG: Nope that was aired on TV. And also Goku was seen naked in DB on Toonami jewels there for everyone to see. And it SHOULDN'T matter whether it's male or female. So basically you're saying it's OK to partially show a guy naked but not a girl? That makes no sense whatsoever.
EDIT: Also safe for little kids should be a moot point since as far as I'm aware, it never aired on US TV.

And there is another not fully accurate statement. The word "obscene" is a legal term that means it's so bad it's illegal show even in porn, even if it has no CP (such as if it has gay buttsekz). So "slightly obscene" as you said above would mean "slightly illegal". And this show is perfectly legal. That scene could be called immodest, somewhat inappropriate, slightly controversial, etc, but obscene it is NOT (even "immoral" would probably be too harsh a term to use). Nor did I ever try to say it was obscene. I simply said it wasn't "squeaky clean". This means it probably would be a mistake to let little kids see it, at least if the TV broadcasting company hadn't deleted that scene. If the TV broadcast company HAD deleted that specific scene though, it would be "squeaky clean" and truly appropriate for people of all ages INCLUDING little kids to see it.

Re: I must gather more intelligence before I act, it's too dangerous!
Really, you're argue about a figure of speech now? Just because a word has a set definitional doesn't me as a society we use it in ways outside of its intended use. At this point you're just arguing semantics and it's just down right stupid. And did you just ignore my post? I added an edit about it not being aired on TV. In fact I did a search and didn't find anything about it being aired on US TV, let alone on a time slot for kids. So for all intents and purposes it's squeaky clean at least as far as you've admitted to seeing it and my Dexter vid disproved that one scene. Aired in the US on a time slot for kids.

Not in America you haven't. I dare you to try to find an episode of Digimon that ran on Fox-Kids that DESPITE their editing, some potentially not-kid-friendly material made it onto American TV.

That reminds me in that in Digimon Frontier every time they spirit-digivolved they were naked as well, but their bodies were glowing, covering their parts, of course.

Which season was Frontier. 1,2,3,4, or 5? I don't know the names just the season numbers. And was this naked from "spirit-digivolution" shown on the kids TV time slot (a.k.a. Fox-Kids) version in the US? Or was the nudity only the Japanese version?

Well then its Spanish version, which means it aired in Spain or Mexico, and do not follow US rules. Unless the scene in question was aired in the US on a kids time segment (NOT on Adult Swim or Animonday), then my argument stands.
