Hey none of the colour changes submitted here in the last year have been uploaded. I know that you guys have other things to do, but maybe it's better to come up with a scheme for doing submitting the colour codes when we upload the lyrics.

I've translated another song with parts that would best make sense if the lyrics were coloured. If you can't think of a way to do that, would it be OK to identify parts in brackets? E.g.,

[Tarzan] Jane, my beautiful chimp!
[Jane] I love you, you big gorilla!
[both] Let's swing on a vine together!

I know it can get messy, but sometimes you need to know who says what.

I don't have time just now to go through and add all of the color-coding posted here in the past year, but it absolutely is possible to put in the HTML for the color-coding yourself when you submit lyrics. It's quite simple: <font color="red">text here</font>. Or use a hex code for the color if you're feeling fancy.

I've also seen people put in the song credits what color they'd like each singer to be and then indicate who's singing at any given time so that we know what color to make each line, but that's more work for me. Though still not as much as doing it this way, I suppose!

The reason I haven't done that is because it says in the first post of this thread not to:

To all submitters please do not attempt this yourself when you are submitting lyrics, even if you know how to do this (the HTML tags will screw up in the queue).

Please confirm that it's OK to do what you suggested.

BTW how do I resubmit a song? There doesn't seem to be a link/button to do that. Can I submit it again as if it were a new song?

That may be a bit outdated; IME the only place where the HTML tags get screwed up is in the credits field, while the bulk of the lyrics are fine. I didn't realize the thread said not to do it; all I know is that people have in fact been doing it, and it makes my life about a hundred times easier when they do it in the submission rather than posting things here. Not being Azu, I can't really change what his post says, but I can talk to him about it.

You can't resubmit/edit a song that you've already posted on the site; that's why corrections to your own lyrics have to be PMed to me or Azu. However, if you want to PM me a color-coded version of the lyrics with HTML tags, that's fine--it's easy for me to deal with because all I have to do is c+p rather than hand-coding it based on a color scheme given in a forum post.

Ah I see. The reason I didn't submit the colour-coded HTML in the first place was that this thread explicitly said not to do it. If the info is incorrect, I think it's a very good idea if you can get it fixed.

Anyway, thanks for the explanation. I'll PM you the updated HTML.
